What's the difference between picking up and distributing goods?

Picking is to pick out the goods from the storage space of the warehouse and put them in the distribution area. Distribution is to put the goods in the distribution area into different areas for distribution according to the order. For example, two orders need 10 A goods, 5 pieces each. According to the order, 10 goods will be taken out of the storage space immediately and pulled to the distribution area. This is called picking. Then, from the distribution area, 10 pieces are distributed to 5 pieces in the waiting area of order A and 5 pieces in the waiting area of order B. This is called distribution.

There are many kinds of picking methods, such as picking list manual picking, PDA manual picking, RFID manual picking, shuttle picking, robot picking ... each picking method has its advantages and disadvantages, and with the continuous emergence of new technologies, various new picking methods are constantly emerging. There are usually three sorting methods: order picking, batch picking and compound picking.

Order picking is suitable for cases where the order scale changes greatly, the order quantity changes frequently and the goods are quite different; Batch picking is suitable for distribution centers with small order change, stable order quantity and regular delivery of goods, followed by distribution of processed goods; Compound picking is based on the variety, quantity and delivery frequency of the order.
