Is it illegal to tear up RMB?

Legal analysis: it is illegal to tear up RMB. Whoever intentionally damages RMB shall be given a warning by the public security organ and fined 1 10,000 yuan. Don't think that deliberately tearing up the renminbi is a loss of your own money. Tearing up a large amount of RMB will also bear certain legal responsibilities. If others are found to have deliberately torn up RMB, they can also report it.

Legal basis: Regulations of People's Republic of China (PRC) Municipality on the Administration of Renminbi.

Article 26 The following acts of damaging RMB are prohibited: (1) Deliberately damaging RMB; (2) Making, imitating and trading renminbi patterns; (three) without the approval of the people's Bank of China, the use of RMB patterns in promotional materials, publications or other commodities; (4) Other acts that damage RMB as stipulated by the People's Bank of China. The renminbi pattern mentioned in the preceding paragraph includes enlarged, reduced and identical renminbi patterns.

Article 42 Whoever intentionally damages RMB shall be given a warning by the public security organ and fined between 65,438 yuan and 0,000 yuan.
