The seeds of Orchidaceae need suitable and special fungi to help them germinate, and fungi have special requirements for the ecological environment, which limits the germination of Orchidaceae seeds and makes them very rare. At the same time, orchids are mostly epiphytic orchids, which are born on the high branches and hanging rocks of giant trees. Poor habitat conditions also affect the reproduction and growth of individuals, which is one of the important reasons for the small number of individuals.

Legal basis: Article 10 of the Regulations on the Protection of Wild Plants in People's Republic of China (PRC) is divided into national key protected wild plants and local key protected wild plants. National key protected wild plants are divided into national first-class protected wild plants and national second-class protected wild plants. The list of national key protected wild plants shall be formulated by the administrative department of forestry and agriculture in the State Council (hereinafter referred to as the administrative department of wild plants in the State Council) in consultation with the relevant departments of environmental protection and construction in the State Council, and submitted to the State Council for approval and promulgation. Wild plants under special local protection refer to wild plants protected by provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government, except those under special national protection. The list of local key protected wild plants shall be formulated and published by the people's governments of provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government and reported to the State Council for the record.
