Legal basis: Article 1 Workers, peasants, soldiers, intellectuals and advanced elements of other social classes in China who have reached the age of 18 may apply to join the Party of China, if they recognize the Party's program and articles of association, take an active part in the Party's work, implement the Party's resolutions and pay party dues on time.

Fifth, the development of party member must put political standards in the first place and adhere to the principle of absorbing individuals through party branches. Applicants for joining the Party should fill in the application form and have two official party member as references. They must be approved by the Party branch meeting and the higher-level Party organizations, and they can only become official party member after preliminary inspection. Before approving the applicant to join the Party, the Party organization at the higher level should send someone to talk with him, get to know him better and help him improve his understanding of the Party. Under special circumstances, the Central Committee of the Party and the committees of provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government may directly accept party member.
