Its theme is "Light Makeup and Heavy Makeup", which was designed by Guo Jinyong, executive director of Color Institute of China Academy of Fine Arts, deputy director and associate professor of comprehensive design department of College of Design and Art, and doctor of design.

Its design combines competitive sports spirit, China cultural elements, Hangzhou urban characteristics and international aesthetic style, is rooted in Hangzhou's historical humanities, natural ecology and innovative genes, and echoes with visual signs such as emblem, mascot, theme slogan and sports icon, thus shaping the overall atmosphere and aesthetic tone of Hangzhou Asian Games.
