The difference is that digital RMB also supports "touch" payment, which is a near-field payment based on NFC, and the experience is similar to taking a subway bus with a transportation card.

However, according to the document, pilot enterprises in Shenzhen have not yet supported this function. When a successful bidder tried to pay by "touch" at a merchant in Vientiane City, Luohu, he was told that the service had not been opened.

At present, 3389 merchants in Shenzhen * * * have completed the transformation of the digital RMB payment system, all of which are equipped with new POS machines for printing digital RMB, and the sign of "Digital RMB" has been placed on the checkout counter.

However, the public's enthusiasm for this new thing seems to be not high. Some businesses don't give feedback. Many merchants have not actually received and paid digital RMB, and some non-pilot merchants in shopping malls have never even heard of digital RMB.

Waiters of some pilot merchants said that the experience of digital RMB is similar to that of China UnionPay Express, but it is not as convenient and fast as the usual mobile payment.
