What is an IOT card?

IOT card is a communication card provided by operators for IOT service enterprises for intelligent terminal equipment networking. IOT card is a communication access service for IOT users, which provides basic communication services such as wireless data, voice and short messages for IOT terminals and operational services such as communication connection management and terminal management for IOT customers. The three major operators adopt their own dedicated number segments for the Internet of Things, support basic communication services including short messages, wireless data and voice through dedicated network element equipment, and provide intelligent connection services such as user-independent communication connection management and terminal management. There are two product forms of IOT card: the first is plug-in card (MP card), which looks similar to SIM card, but this kind of IOT card is more powerful and can be used in extremely low or extremely high temperature environment to adapt to different harsh external environments. The second type is SMD card (MS card), which not only has the advantages of plug-in card, but also requires a high anti-vibration index, so it can be welded to equipment. The morphological characteristics of the two types of cards are different, and the hardware equipment scenarios are also different. Usually, MS cards are only used for pre-assembly, while MP cards may be used for both pre-assembly and post-assembly. Because of its small size, earthquake resistance, high temperature resistance and long service life, MS card is often used in front of vehicles, intelligent meter reading and wearing equipment. The MP card has a wider range of applications because of its low cost and convenient installation.
