Amazing offshore wind power generation

My father is an engineer, and it is difficult to see him even when he is busy. I haven’t seen him for several months, and finally at the weekend, I couldn’t wait to ask my mother to take me to see him.

After a 3-hour long journey, we finally arrived at the construction site where my father worked. The first thing that caught my eye were some behemoths that I couldn't name. For a science nerd like me, these piqued my unusually strong curiosity.

Due to the busy schedule of the project, Dad still couldn’t take a break on weekends. No, he was still inspecting the construction site. I could only wait for him anxiously in the office. While waiting, I wondered: What on earth are those? What does it do? Dad's return may be able to answer my doubts.

Dad came back at noon. I ran into his arms and asked as soon as I opened my mouth: What are those giant things on the construction site? Baby, those machines are great assistants for our offshore wind power generation. Did you know? Offshore wind power is the use of abundant wind resources at sea to generate electricity. This project has played an indescribable role in protecting the ecological environment. What is even more proud is that it is also another business card of China's construction to show the national image after the construction of high-speed rail. However, the construction process of this project is very difficult. We need to sink a steel pipe pile foundation with a diameter of about 8 meters, a thickness of 12 centimeters, a length of more than 100 meters, and a weight of more than 1,000 tons into the sea 80 meters deep in complex sea conditions. After the pile sinking is completed, the 100-meter-diameter wind blades are installed on the tower. This is not only physical work but also mental work. The workers are very hard. Dad looked at me with an understanding look, gently stroked my head and said sincerely.

Immediately after lunch, my father put on his helmet and life jacket and went to work. Looking at my father's back that was soaked in sweat, my eyes became moist, and my little heart fluctuated.

In the afternoon, my mother and I were at the beach looking at the rough sea. More than a dozen large ships were transporting materials back and forth. The large cranes on the dock were operating rapidly, and the machines on the entire construction site were roaring. Some of the workers wearing work clothes of different colors are directing lifting, some are tying wire ropes, some are welding, and some are processing various materials. The construction site is in good order. Seeing the busy figure of the worker uncle and his determined eyes, I felt deeply shocked. China's builders are amazing, and the title of infrastructure madman is worthy of the name.

Although I got along with my father for a short time, I feel extremely proud. At the same time, I am also proud of those selfless scientists and workers. It is precisely because of their unknown contributions that our science and technology will become more and more advanced. The more developed the country becomes, the more prosperous the nation becomes.

In the future, I hope that humans can use energy rationally. In the near future, the energy shortage problem will be solved, all kinds of home appliances, cars, and trains will use clean energy, and the motherland will have clear mountains and green waters.
