Is Agama a Hinayana?

Traditionally, Agama is indeed listed as a Hinayana classic.

People divide Buddhism into Mahayana, Hinayana and Hinayana, and Agama classifies it as a Hinayana classic. But in fact, it is equally important and necessary for practitioners who truly follow the Buddha's education to participate in learning.

Agama is the earliest existing Buddhist classic, which is also the closest to the Buddha's era, and is the root of the development of Buddhism in various times, regions and sects in the future. It can be said that Agama is the fundamental classic of Buddhism.

The Agama Book is the general name of four Agama Books, including Za Agama Book, Zhong A Book, Chang Agama Book and Zengyi Agama Book. Its Pali equivalent classics are Correspondence Department, Middle Department, Dragon Department and Zengyi Department.

In the first Buddhist Collection, the part about Dharma is classified into two types: Prose and Chanting Style, which are called Xiuduoluo, meaning "Jing".

< chanting style > is called only night, which means poetry and ode, which is the main part of the existing Agama.

By the second Buddhist anthology, four books of Agama, Za Agama, Zhong Agama, Chang Agama and Zengyi Agama, were formally integrated.

After that, Buddhism entered the period of "sectarianism", and then Mahayana Buddhism rose. Among them, the development of the latter was born from the former. Therefore, it can be said that both Buddhism and Mahayana Buddhism originated from the teachings of the Buddha, and the earliest existing book recording the teachings of the Buddha is Agama.
