Experience of creating excellence on terrazzo floor in a large area.

Abstract: The teaching building of Kuitun No.1 Middle School has novel design and beautiful decoration. Indoor and outdoor decoration is high-grade, and the rooms are mostly colored terrazzo floors. In the construction of terrazzo floor, Kuitun Yongchang Construction Engineering Co., Ltd. carefully studied the construction technology, strictly controlled the material quality and construction technology, and made the terrazzo floor create high-quality products in a large area, adding luster to the whole project.

Keywords: terrazzo floor large area experience

Can achieve such a good construction quality, summed up the following experience:

First, pay special attention to the quality of materials and optimize cement. According to the requirements of terrazzo model, the company tries to use a batch number of white cement or ordinary cement to make the same floor (including plastering and repairing) and strive for the same color. Stone particles selected: the terrazzo surface should be made of marble and dolomite with dense texture and bright grinding surface but low hardness, and calcite or granite, basalt and diabase with high hardness should not be selected. We carefully select all kinds of stone particles and store them separately according to different varieties, specifications and colors, and never mix them with each other. Careful selection of pigments: due to different manufacturers and batch numbers, the performance of pigments is difficult to be completely consistent. Therefore, when using, we choose the same batch number of pigments according to the model for each single project to achieve the consistency of color light and coloring power.

Second, cooperate with cement slurry. The mix proportion of cement slurry on terrazzo surface should reflect the decorative intention of design, and the mix proportion should be designed and calculated according to the given stone particles. The first is color design. Color design is an important part of implementing the design intention of artistic terrazzo in architecture. After the basic color of terrazzo is determined, it can be mixed between stone particles and between stone particles and toner. We use the same color matching, similar color matching, contrast color matching and polar color matching to make the background color harmonious and magnificent.

Third, master the mixture ratio. The first is the ratio between stone particles. When two or more kinds of stone particles are used in terrazzo surface, generally, stone particles of one color should be given priority to, supplemented by stone particles of other colors. In addition, attention should also be paid to the matching of stone particle size, that is, it is required to have a better particle gradation, so that its compactness is not less than 60%, in order to have a better decorative effect. Secondly, it is the ratio of colored cement powder to stone particles. Whether the ratio of colored cement powder and stone particles is appropriate can be observed with naked eyes after mixing (slump is required to be 2 ~ 3cm). Too little color cement slurry fails to fill the gap of stone particles, which is easy to grind off stone particles and affects the engineering quality; There are too many colored cement slurry, so stone particles are not easy to squeeze, which will increase the difficulty of polishing. The appropriate dosage is that the color cement slurry just fills the gap between stone particles or is 0.5 ~ 1mm lower than the surface of stone particles.

Fourth, the water-cement ratio. Excessive water consumption of colored stone slurry on the surface of terrazzo will reduce the strength and wear resistance of terrazzo, and many tiny pores will be left on the surface after excess water volatilizes. The appropriate water consumption is to make the slump of stone slurry reach 6 cm. That is, the weight of water accounts for about 1 1% to 12% of the total weight of dry matter (cement, pigment and stone particles), or 38% to 42% of the weight of toner.

Fifth, careful construction.

1, spread cement mortar leveling layer. The working procedure is as follows: firstly, leveling, cleaning the surface of the base, brushing plain cement slurry, completing the sign block and sign pole (screed), and then laying the leveling layer.

Base treatment is an important attribute to ensure the durability of terrazzo. Poor quality of grass-roots will cause terrazzo. The surface layer is hollow, cracked and even partially collapsed. The basic treatment of terrazzo surface construction is the same as that of general cement mortar surface construction.

2. Mosaic strips are divided into grids. The embedding of terrazzo partition wall is a very important process, and special attention should be paid to the embedding height and horizontal angle of cement slurry. The correct way to stick the grid is that the height of the grid is slightly more than half of the height of the grid, and the horizontal direction obeys an angle of 3 (1 degree. In this way, when the cement slurry is laid on the surface layer, the stone particles can cling to the grid strips, and the polished stone particles on both sides of the grid are dense, showing even and clear, and the decorative effect is good;

3, laying cement slurry. After the grid strips are bonded and embedded, the accumulated water and floating sand shall be removed, and the plain cement slurry shall be brushed, followed by the cement slurry of the pavement layer. When laying, first use a wood trowel to gently compact the cement slurry on both sides of the frame 10 cm to avoid damaging the frame. If there are several colors of terrazzo on the same plane, it should be black first, then bright, big first, and then polished. When the surface layer is laid, the operator should wear shoes with soft soles, flat heels and no obvious protrusions at the bottom to avoid stepping on deep shoe prints. After the stone slurry is laid, it should be compacted with large and small steel slips or concrete cylinders.

Step 4 grind. The grinding time of terrazzo is related to cement strength and temperature. After grinding, the stone particles are still, and the surface of cement slurry is basically flush with the surface of stone particles. The strength of cement slurry is too high, and grinding is time-consuming; If the strength is too low, when the grindstone rotates, the negative pressure generated by the bottom surface will easily pull the cement slurry into the groove or knock off the stone particles. In order to master the appropriate hardness, it is suggested to try grinding before starting grinding. Large buildings should be polished by mechanical stone mill. For smaller areas and corners, a small wet mill can be used for grinding. Only where the workload is not too heavy or machinery cannot be used can manual grinding be used. When grinding, there should always be water under the grinding disc to wash the grinded slurry and sweep it away in time. In the grinding process of terrazzo floor, there will always be a small number of holes and pores, which are usually removed by slurry filling. The method of "two pulps and three grinds" is commonly used in terrazzo floor, that is, the whole grinding process is polished three times and supplemented twice.

Step 5 polish. Polishing is the last process of terrazzo floor construction. Through grinding, the fine grinding surface is finally processed, so that the terrazzo floor meets the acceptance standard. Polishing is a mixture of chemical action and physical action. Under the action of friction, the mixed solution of oxalic acid and oxidized water for polishing immediately corrodes the convex part of the finely ground surface, and then the product is squeezed into the concave part. After physical and chemical reaction on the surface, a glossy film is formed on the terrazzo surface, and then waxed to protect it, which will make the terrazzo floor show lasting luster.
