The Measures for the Administration of Marriage Registration Files has made strict provisions on the use of marriage registration files. The parties to a marriage can consult their marriage registration files with their legal identity documents (ID cards, household registration books). If you can't see it in person for some reason, you can apply for a power of attorney and entrust others to handle it on your behalf. The power of attorney shall be authenticated by a notary office. Citizens should inquire about the general situation of marriage registration files at the original marriage registration authority. If the marriage registration file has been handed over to the local national archives, the marriage registration authority shall inform the parties concerned, and the parties concerned shall inquire in the archives. Under normal circumstances, others are not allowed to consult other people's marriage registration files, unless they are law enforcement officers of public security organs, and they come to inquire with the letter of introduction or work permit of the unit.
