How to identify the authenticity of amber

The identification method of amber is to listen to the sound, smell the fragrance and see the luster, light and temperature.

1, listen to the sound

Amber ornaments that are not inlaid will make a very soft and dull sound when they are gently rubbed in their hands. If it is plastic or resin, the sound will be crisp.

Step 2 smell the fragrance

Among all amber, the fragrance of white beeswax called Xiangpo is the most obvious. Rub your hands on the surface, and ordinary amber has no fragrance. If the fragrance is strong, it must be fake amber coated with essence.

3. Look at the luster

Natural amber is naturally moist, and the fake is shiny, cold and hard. Under light, natural amber has different angles, different colors and refractions.

4. Lighting equipment

When amber is placed under a purple light detector, there will be obvious fluorescence reaction on the surface of natural amber, but if it is fake amber, it has no fluorescence or is very weak.

5. Temperature sensing

Amber is a neutral gem, which feels mild, but it will feel cold if it is a glass imitation. Natural amber is neither hot in summer nor cold in winter, and is suitable for all seasons; True amber emits light rosin after burning, and plastic imitation smells like glue.
