Can I check my household registration address with my ID number?

Legal analysis: through the first six digits of a person's citizenship number, only the administrative divisions above the county level at the time when the certificate was first issued can be found, and the detailed household registration address of the person cannot be found. Because a person's citizenship number is a unique and lifelong identity code for every citizen, and because a person's residential address can't be standardized by digital coding, it is not reflected in the characteristic combination code of 18 citizenship number, so the original household registration address can't be found. The home address can only be found by the ID number, but only by the public security department. The home address can be found on the household registration network inside the public security department, but anyone who wants to obtain this information must have special permission from the public security department or above. According to the law, if the people's police commit one of the following acts, they shall be given administrative sanctions according to the seriousness of the case; If the case constitutes a crime, criminal responsibility shall be investigated according to law: (1) taking advantage of the convenience of making, issuing and checking resident identity cards to accept other people's property or seek other benefits; (2) illegally changing the citizen's identity number, or posting information on the resident's identity card other than the matters specified in the first paragraph of Article 3 of this Law, or deliberately posting false information; (3) Failing to issue resident identity cards within the statutory time limit without justifiable reasons; (four) in violation of the provisions of the inspection, seizure of identity cards, against the legitimate rights and interests of citizens; (five) the disclosure of personal information of citizens obtained by making, distributing, inspecting and detaining resident identity cards, which infringes upon the legitimate rights and interests of citizens.

Article 3 The contents of the resident identity card registration include: name, gender, nationality, date of birth, permanent residence, citizenship number, personal photo, fingerprint information, validity period of the certificate and issuing authority.

Citizenship number is a unique and life-long identity code for every citizen, which is compiled by public security organs according to the national standard of citizenship number.

Citizens applying for obtaining, renewing or replacing resident identity cards shall register their fingerprint information.

Article 6 The pattern of resident identity cards shall be formulated by the public security department of the State Council. Resident identity cards are uniformly produced and issued by public security organs.

The resident ID card has two functions: visual reading and machine reading. The contents of visual inspection and machine reading are limited to the items specified in the first paragraph of Article 3 of this Law.

The public security organ and its people's police shall keep confidential the personal information of citizens known in the production, distribution, inspection and seizure of resident identity cards.
