Wuhu is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Anhui Province, referred to as Jiangcheng and Jiuzi for short. It is a type II big city, a provincial sub-central city and a central city in the Yangtze River Delta. It is located in East China, southeast of Anhui Province, downstream of the Yangtze River, with Hefei and Maanshan in the north, Xuancheng and Chizhou in the south, Maanshan and Xuancheng in the east and Tongling in the west.

City introduction

Wuhu, formerly known as Jiuzi, was founded in the Spring and Autumn Period. Qin Shihuang unified China and established a county system, from Geng Yi County to Wuhu City. During this period, the name of organizational system changed with the change of dynasties. Since the Southern Tang Dynasty in the Five Dynasties, the name of Wuhu has been used to this day, and it has enjoyed the reputation of "Jiangdong Famous City" and "Wuchu Famous District" since ancient times.

On May 1949, Wuhu Municipal People's Government was established.

Wuhu is an important scientific research and education base and industrial base in East China, a national comprehensive transportation hub, a central city of G60 Science and Technology Corridor, an important city in Wanjiang City Belt to undertake industrial transfer demonstration zone, an international tourism culture demonstration zone in southern Anhui, a national independent innovation demonstration zone in Hefei, Wuhu and Bengbu, and an important part of China (Anhui) Pilot Free Trade Zone.
