This is because after urea is applied to soil, it exists in soil solution in molecular state, and it is not easily absorbed by soil colloid and easily lost with water before it is converted into ammonium carbonate. Therefore, when the urea is watered immediately after application, the urea will adhere to the deep soil below 20 cm with the water, which is not easy to be absorbed and utilized by crop roots, resulting in waste.
