What is Parkour?

Parkour, also known as Parkour, was born in France in the 1980s. Participants need to run along a route and climb over obstacles in the most effective way as possible by jumping/jumping, climbing or more parkour actions (skills), just like in an emergency.

This action mainly uses the body and surrounding objects to climb obstacles. Anything on the road can be an obstacle. Therefore, parkour is defined as a kind of sports that crosses any obstacle in front of you through the coordination of its own movement and environment.

In 2006, Parkour entered China. In just over ten years, Parkour has developed rapidly from scratch in China, with more and more parkour participants all over the country, especially loved by more and more young people in China. Parkour is not only an art of sports, but also a lifestyle advocated by youth subculture.

The original intention of parkour is to "cross obstacles", and its basic purpose is to never back down in the face of obstacles and use its own strength to cross obstacles according to the surrounding environmental conditions. In this process, the human body is the only tool for parkour, and all the natural abilities of the human body need to be mobilized, such as running, jumping and crawling.

For the obstacles that appear in front of us, if it is difficult to cross, most people will choose to bypass them, but parkour practitioners will "challenge it" and think about how to cross it. Then if we spread the spirit of challenge, we will find that parkour, as a new sport, essentially advocates a cultural concept of freedom, optimism and courage to challenge.

It contains many ideas to promote positive energy, such as facing obstacles directly, believing in yourself, never giving up in the face of difficulties, fully tapping one's potential, and solving problems with one's own skills and methods.

The process of crossing obstacles is actually to awaken our instinctive reactions in our bodies. This instinct is exercise, which requires real warrior spirit. This is a natural way to train the human body's ability to move quickly. It makes any available environmental facilities around us "work for us", which is the refinement of one's mobile skills.

This is not to say that you can "conquer obstacles" by relying on your physical instinct, which is not only reckless but also easy to get hurt. The so-called "foot is not strong, the trace is not far, the front is not sharp, and the cut is not deep."

Before crossing the obstacle, we should think: if I want to land, I need to know how to take off, at the same time, where to stabilize, where to stretch, how to breathe, how to do landing posture and so on. If you want to finish Parkour safely and smoothly, you need to strengthen this instinct through continuous training, consciously integrate or create some skills to avoid injury. Learning and practice are indispensable.
