Abstract: As an important capital form and production factor, the socialization of knowledge and information has become an important factor to determine economic growth. Under this background, the construction of university digital library has become the general trend. At present, university digital library plays a key role in narrowing the gap between Chinese and foreign university libraries in collection capacity and service level, and eliminating the information gap between universities in different regions of China. However, there are also some problems that hinder its development in construction practice. Based on the development status of university digital library, this paper analyzes the ways to build modern university digital library.

1 The concept and important role of university digital library

Digital library, also known as virtual library, refers to the library service form that uses advanced network technology to digitize literature resources and provide users with digital information through a variety of efficient, convenient and fast retrieval methods. Compared with the traditional library, digital library has the characteristics of rich resources, large amount of information, timely update, convenient query, and no geographical and temporal restrictions. Digital library circulates the text, images, videos and other resources scattered in the network, so that people can use them more effectively, fully and safely.

With the development of modern society, mankind is stepping into an era of knowledge economy determined by the possession, allocation and utilization of information resources. As an important capital form and production factor, the degree of information socialization has become an important factor to determine economic growth. Under this background, the construction of university digital library has become the general trend. At present, university digital library plays a key role in reducing the collection capacity and service level of Chinese and foreign university libraries and eliminating the information gap between universities in different regions of China.

2 the development status of digital libraries in colleges and universities

Since 1996, when the National Library applied for the "Digital Library Pilot Project", more and more digital libraries began to operate. As a university with a huge demand for information resources, its digital library construction project started late, but developed rapidly. At present, the construction methods of university libraries mainly include introduction and self-construction. Introduction refers to the introduction of electronic resources into key disciplines and majors by purchasing ready-made electronic data resources, guided by the characteristics of teaching and scientific research in colleges and universities, and on the basis of purchasing rich comprehensive literature. Self-construction aims at the collection characteristics of different universities, deeply processes information resources, establishes thematic databases and provides personalized services.

Although the construction of digital libraries in some universities has begun to take shape and formed certain characteristics, there are still many problems to be improved in terms of information popularization, personalization, sharing and collaborative management. First of all, in terms of network popularization and document digitization, in recent years, most colleges and universities have connected China's national networks such as CERNET, CSTNET, CHINANET, GBNET and UNIENT, which also provides good network data communication conditions for the construction of digital libraries. On this basis, the collection resources of colleges and universities began to be digitally transformed in a planned and step-by-step manner. However, the traditional techniques such as manual operation, keyboard input, digital imaging, picture scanning and saving all have problems to varying degrees, which leads to the slow input process of resources, easy to appear omissions and errors in the conversion process, and makes digital resources far from meeting the needs of readers. In terms of resource sharing, there are many problems in university libraries, such as duplication of collection resources, low utilization rate of interlibrary loan, etc., and the key advantages of digital libraries have not been really utilized. On the technical level, there is still great room for innovation in tackling key technologies such as visual user interface and human-computer interaction, digital object description, intelligent information retrieval technology, non-text and multimedia, hypermedia, information organization and storage, indexing and retrieval. And establish unified standards and norms to make the use of resources between embassies more convenient and smooth, and gradually integrate with the international community, which is also an important prerequisite for achieving the goal of digital library construction in colleges and universities. In addition, the technical research and service development of libraries need a clear division of labor and mutual coordination, so the construction and management level of professional talents in university libraries is also a key link that should be strengthened in the future.

3 ways to promote the construction of digital libraries in modern universities

3. 1 Strengthen the construction of information infrastructure and attach importance to planning and coordinated development.

In order to adapt to the advanced digital level and technical level of the communication department, university libraries should upgrade their systems and constantly strengthen the construction of information infrastructure. Clint/server and Windows series platforms should be the preferred platforms and modes for software upgrading, and they should be connected with campus network and CERNET to form the local area network of our library, so as to establish the network. In addition, the network system to be established also includes a highly integrated library management system, a CD-ROM network subsystem and a multimedia network subsystem. In terms of planning, we should base ourselves on realistic conditions, coordinate with the long-term development goals of colleges and universities on the basis of unified norms and standards.

3.2 Strengthen the personalized construction of digital libraries in colleges and universities

The individualization of digital library construction in colleges and universities mainly includes the specialization of literature resources and the characteristics of service content. Digital libraries with their own characteristics, such as online digital libraries of science and engineering, agricultural medicine and finance, should be built according to the priorities and advantages of teaching and scientific research in colleges and universities. According to the collection characteristics of the library, we should reasonably choose and purchase relevant digital resources, and gradually improve the professional database that conforms to the characteristics of teaching and scientific research in our university. Because the information resources provided by digital library are huge and diverse, people's demand for information is targeted, and the same information has different use values for different users. Therefore, we should also pay attention to the personalized construction of services such as knowledge updating, retrieval methods and resource tips. Starting with optimizing the communication mode between the library and readers, we should take various active contact modes such as telephone, SMS and email to strengthen the ideological exchange between librarians and readers, attach importance to readers' feelings and service feedback when using book information, and adjust retrieval strategies and service training on this basis. Training should not be limited to librarians, but also use lectures and auxiliary elective courses to strengthen the ability and skills of teachers and students in colleges and universities in computer use and resource retrieval, and improve the utilization rate of collections.

3.3 Strengthen the development of information technology and the construction of * * *

The development and sharing of information is the key to realize the construction goal of digital library in colleges and universities. Therefore, we should conduct a comprehensive, systematic and in-depth investigation and tracking of academic electronic resources at home and abroad, purchase and introduce high-quality Chinese and foreign literature databases such as humanities, social sciences and natural sciences in a selective, planned and step-by-step manner, so that secondary literature databases such as Chinese and foreign bibliographic abstracts can cover all disciplines and majors in our school as much as possible, and foreign electronic periodicals cover key disciplines and majors in our school.

3.4 Other construction methods

University libraries should also increase investment in capital, technology and personnel training. On the one hand, directly introduce undergraduate and graduate students majoring in library who graduated from colleges and universities; On the other hand, it is necessary to strengthen the professional skills training and further study for the existing employees, especially the training on the application of computers and networks, so as to improve their ability to capture, analyze and sort out information, so that librarians can not only know the specialty, but also have knowledge and technology, change from a single role to diversification, become information experts and information managers, and finally get rid of the limitations of traditional libraries in concept.
