How can Dujiangyan benefit the future and how should we protect it?

During the Warring States Period, Li Bing (256 BC), the prefect of Shu County, Qin State, creatively put forward the six-character key of "deep scouring sand and low weir building" on the basis of summing up the experience and lessons of predecessors in water control, and led the people of Shu to control the Minjiang River by engineering measures such as "digging rivers and sand dikes, building fish mouths and installing sheepfolds", thus achieving the goal of "four or six points to control drought". This is an unprecedented great pioneering work for human beings to conquer natural floods. The basic elements of the design shape, location and size of this project have been passed down to this day. The revelation and application of the principle of fluid mechanics is of epoch-making significance, which fully proves the unparalleled intelligence of the ancient people in China.

Tens of millions of runaway wild horses were tamed before Dujiangyan project. Since then, Chengdu has put an end to numerous disasters caused by floods in the Minjiang River in the past, and the land of abundance has been nourished. The most commendable thing is that Dujiangyan has been proved indestructible in the cruel historical test of 2300 years after its birth, and it will continue to benefit the people along the coast and future generations.

Several generations in Chengdu have successively maintained this project according to the predictions of Li Bing and his son. At the same time, many memorial buildings have been built nearby to express gratitude and reverence to Li Bing and his son for benefiting the world ~
