1. Of course, the hotels in Gulangyu are more expensive. Family hotels are concentrated in Gulangyu Island and Huandao Road in Xiamen, and the prices in the off-season are not very high. Generally, 150-250 per night is no problem. Don’t worry about the boat to Gulangyu Island, it’s available very late, the latest is at 24:00, and the earliest is at 5:00.

2. Specialty hotels. Most of the family hotels in Gulangyu Island have special characteristics, such as NAYA, Nana, Tingtao Xiaozhu, Yuanzhongyuan, and Youjian Inn. Hotels in Xiamen include Blue Cabin, Youth Inn, and the relatively remote but charming Dream Traveler Music Hotel. There are too many other hotels everywhere, such as Lujiang Hotel, Botelai, Kaili Lai, Jinjiang Inn, International Youth Hostel, Home Inn, etc., they are all pretty good.

3. Play

(1) A three-day and two-night itinerary is enough for Xiamen. Two days are enough for Gulangyu Island. It is recommended to buy a joint tour on the first day. Ticket (80 yuan), the best route is Sunlight Rock (including Sunlight Rock, cableway, Bird Garden or Qin Garden) - Shuzhuang Garden - International Lettering Art Museum - Haoyue Garden - Organ Museum (Bagua Tower). This route is summarized through my practical experience no less than 50 times. It is the most labor-saving. It is basically a route from high to low scenic spots. The reason why Bagua Tower and Haoyue Garden are placed last is because these two scenic spots are not of high value. Tickets for individual attractions are also low. Many tourists are too tired and often don’t go (the joint ticket is valid on the same day). The ticket for the Engraving Museum is the lowest, but because it is right next to Shuzhuang Garden, you can take a look.

(2) It is recommended to take the construction route the next day. The construction route is more complicated because the famous buildings on Gulangyu Island are distributed in various parts of the island, but you can still have the best choice. A: Lujiao Road, the architectural route along Fujian Road, this line is also the most classic, including the former sites of the British, Japanese, and German consulates, as well as the famous buildings in Gulangyu - Haitangyu, Tianzhu Hall, Li Qingquan Villa, etc. This is considered a must-go construction route. Except for the Haitang Building, which requires tickets (60 yuan), the others are free. B: The area from Haitan Road to Guxin Road mainly contains the essence of southern Fujian traditional architecture (including Da Fu Di, Si Luo House), Bagua Tower, Lijiazhuang, etc. If you don’t have a tour guide, it’s best to buy a book or map to learn about it in advance, otherwise, you can basically just take a quick look around.

Attachment: If you have more time, you can take the Kinmen boat at the ferry terminal first, go to the sea to enjoy the wind, see Kinmen Island (126 yuan boat ticket), and then go to Gulangyu Island after seeing it. (3) On the third day, the best route is undoubtedly around Xiamen University, including South Putuo, Xiamen University, Huli Mountain, and Huandao Road (the starting point of Huandao Road is Huli Mountain). Of course, you need to rent a bicycle for Huandao Road. The price is 5 yuan/hour/person for a double bike or more, 10/hour/person for a single bike. If you have average foot strength, you can ride to the coconut wind. If you are good, it is recommended to ride to the Convention and Exhibition Center (look at the "One Country, Two Systems" slogan, opposite is Little Kinmen) Average It only takes an hour to get to the exhibition. If you want to stop and have a look on the way, 2-3 hours is enough. As for Xiamen University, which everyone is concerned about, it is currently closed (due to swine flu). 4. Regarding food, a casual search will reveal that Xiamen Island’s traditional snacks are the most famous. Of course, there are Jiawei Zaitian (i.e. Wu Zaitian) and Hao Fragrance (its advertising slogan: If you don’t get a good fragrance, it’s all in vain) Lu Dao Xing) Huang Zehe. The food court basically surrounds Zhongshan Road and can be found in various small alleys. But I think you don’t need to go to any food court if you don’t have a few meals to eat. One or two of these three restaurants are enough to eat all the Southern Fujian snacks. For lunch on Gulangyu Island, I would like to recommend a few good ones. Wangji’s fish ball soup is the most famous, with a small sign but the most delicious. Yuanxiangkou Fish Ball Soup has a big sign, but the taste is not as good as Wangji. Most of the other snacks are pretty much the same. Specialties include pies and meat floss. Wangji pies and BABYCAT's handmade pies are the most recommended. Xinsihai, the most famous commercial store, tastes pretty good and has the most shops.

There’s not much to say about the pork jerky and pork floss. Golden Fragrance at No. 95 Longtou Road has long been famous, and it’s hard not to recommend it.

Attachment: Seafood, many tourists will eat seafood here, but Wenzhou tourists may not catch a cold. For seafood, we recommend Jiali, Shuyou, Haigang, and the relatively affordable Achuan (the name is very affordable, get off at Zengcuo'an Station on the Huandao Road)

5. Xiamen is never very cold. Remember to wear a long-sleeved jacket.
