Since the journey to Europe is long and full of hardships, why don't these refugees take refuge in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, both oil-rich countries in the Middle East?

1. Middle Eastern countries are not parties to refugees.

Before analyzing the evacuation route of Syrian refugees, let's take a look at the geographical environment of this country. In the north, Turkey is the only place to travel to Europe by land. Iraq to the east is also unstable; Continuing eastward is Iran with strict control and different doctrines; To the south are local tyrants from Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. As a smart refugee, it is obvious that he will not choose to go to the East, because Iraq in the East, like Iran with a combination of politics and religion, was ruled by Shiites after Saddam's fall. The Sunnis believed by Syrian refugees are different sects with thousands of years of feuds.

After Iraq was crippled by the United States, the domestic situation remained chaotic, the economy stagnated, and even local residents could not find jobs. Iran, which has been sanctioned by the United States for many years, is also worse, and the people are in dire straits.

Therefore, whether it is based on sectarian hatred or want to get a stable life and work, you can't go to these two places.

Lebanon and Jordan in the west have small territories. In recent years, the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the influx of Palestinian refugees have made them unbearable. They want to accept these Syrian compatriots, but there is nothing they can do.

Saudi Arabia, Qatar, United Arab Emirates and other Arab countries are all Sunnis with developed economies. However, these countries are not parties to the Convention relating to the Status of Refugees and have no international obligation to accept refugees. Therefore, there is no intention to open the border to accept refugees. For refugees who enter the country illegally, the situation will naturally not be much better.

From this point of view, if you want to change your life and find a better new life, it seems that the most sensible way is to enter the developed countries in Europe by land or sea. In addition, during the Iraq war, many refugees who entered Europe have obtained green cards and become justified Europeans. Their shining example makes Syrian refugees yearn for it.

Second, it is relatively easy to go to Europe than to the Persian Gulf.

From the map, the straight-line distance between the Gulf oil countries and Syria is really close. But in fact, compared with distant Europe, it is almost impossible for Syrian refugees who have no money to fly and other means of transportation to travel long distances to Saudi Arabia and other countries by land.

This is because if you want to reach Saudi Arabia and other countries, you must first pass through Iraq, and then you can enter Saudi Arabia, which is sparsely populated. The current security situation in Iraq is not much better than that in Syria. Various exchanges of fire between Iraqi government forces and the opposition and the "Islamic State" terrorist organization have occurred from time to time. I was afraid all the way and finally entered the Saudi border. The oncoming desert is endless. It is almost impossible for refugees who lack food and drink to walk out of the desert on two legs.

In contrast, although the route to Europe is long and difficult, as long as you don't risk capsizing by boat, you basically have no worries. And you can enjoy humanitarian care along the way. As long as you enter the Schengen convention area and obtain a certain status, you can travel freely in EU countries from now on. The road ahead of life is vast.

Third, tolerate Europe and exclude Saudi Arabia.

European countries have signed international asylum laws, and it is illegal to refuse to accept refugees. Therefore, as long as these Syrian refugees try their best to enter these countries, not only will they not be troubled by war, but their lives will also be guaranteed.

Especially in Germany, the kind-hearted Aunt Merkel not only provided food, clothing, housing and transportation for these refugees from afar, but also found jobs for them. Moreover, the German people are also very enthusiastic. Hundreds of Germans often organize and go to the railway station to meet these refugees with welcome slogans and gifts. The scene is touching and spectacular.

On the other hand, Saudi Arabia and other Middle Eastern countries, which are also Islamic friends, have recruited a large number of laborers from Pakistan, Egypt and other countries, but Syrian refugees are not their ideal labor force.

The Saudi authorities said that Riyadh has always been an enemy of the Damascus regime, and if they accept Syrian refugees, they are afraid of retaliation. However, this excuse is untenable, because most of the refugees are not Shiites of the Bashar family, but Sunnis living with Saudi Arabia.
