The low-key ancient buildings in Huai 'an, Jiangsu Province, have a long history and many historical sites, claiming to be the best in the country.

Coincidentally, when I was in college, a good friend went to school in Huai 'an and invited me to visit Huai 'an many times, but for various reasons, we couldn't make it until we both graduated.

Last Wednesday, I was idle and bored. My friend who graduated from Huai 'an suddenly told me that the high-speed train from Shanghai to Huai 'an was opened to traffic, and the whole journey took three hours. On Friday, there was a high-speed rail delegation, and more than 300 tourists took the high-speed rail to travel to Huai 'an.

And asked me if I could go, and I really wanted to make up for it. So, I readily agreed to join my friends in reporting this starting group to Huai 'an, so I had this two-day and one-night trip.

The first stop to Huai 'an is Huai 'an Mansion in Dongmen Street, Huai 'an District. Because I used to work in Hebei and have been to Baoding Zhili Governor's Office, the first feeling when I came to Yamen was the profoundness of ancient culture.

Friends who are familiar with the history of Huai 'an should know that Huai 'an was called Shanyang County and Chuzhou in ancient times. Since the capital was established, it has been ruled by counties, states, roads and governments. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, there were 199 magistrates working here, who tried the "Li Yuchang Disaster Relief Case", one of the four unsolved cases in the Qing Dynasty, with a long history and many stories.

According to the Records of Huai 'an Local Records, this Huai 'an mansion was built in the third year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty (AD 1370), and was rebuilt by Yao Bin, the then magistrate, on the basis of Wan Hu Mansion and Wu Tong Temple in Yiyong in Yuan Dynasty. The south of the whole government office is connected with the Governor's Office of Grain Transportation, Zhenhuai Office and even Shanyang County Office. It is located on the central axis of the ancient city, with a total length of about 1km and an area of nearly 20,000 square meters.

Because it covers a large area, the building scale of the whole yamen is also very large. There are more than 50 buildings and 600 rooms, which are built on East Road, Middle Road and West Road respectively. It has the characteristics of ancient government offices, even no less than the famous Neixiang county government in Nanyang, Henan Province.

When you step into the government office, the first thing you see is Yimen. In ancient feudal times, when a new official took office and a superior official visited, you got off the sedan chair at the main entrance of Yimen, and then waited for the official here to welcome you into Yimen, so it can also be described as "the door of etiquette".

The core of the whole yamen is the lobby. When you step into the lobby, the first thing that catches your eye is the plaque inscribed by Zhu, a thinker in the Southern Song Dynasty, which means loyalty to the monarch and love the people.

On both sides of the lobby is a couplet: "Eat people's food, wear people's clothes, don't be bullied by people, you are also people;" There is no shame in getting an official, and there is no shame in losing an official. Don't say that an official is useless, and the place depends on an official. "Overall, this is very encouraging.

In addition to the lobby, there are a series of ancient prisons on the left side of the mansion, and there are even various restored scenes. If timid friends see it, I will feel a little scared.

In addition, there are many buildings in the official residence, such as the Mang Palace dedicated to Xiao He, a famous minister in the early Han Dynasty, and the back garden for the magistrate and his family to relax, so I won't introduce them here. If you are interested, you may wish to experience it.
