Development of Jiangdu Water Control Project Scenic Area

Jiangdu Water Control Project is located in the north bank of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, at the southern end of Jiangdu Old Town. Looking from the north of the hub project, the vast northern Jiangsu plain is densely covered with rivers and thousands of grains of rice, which is known as the land of abundance. But in history, it is also prone to droughts and floods.

Location. After the founding of New China, President Mao Zedong called for "the Huaihe River must be repaired". Under the direct care of Premier Zhou Enlai, Jiangdu Water Control Project, a world-famous water conservancy project, finally opened its floodgates to store water on February 30th, 65438. The construction of Jiangdu Water Control Project lasted 16 years. The first pumping station was successfully completed in April, 1963, and then1700,000 yuan was invested to build the second, third and fourth stations and their supporting projects. By March 1977, a comprehensive water control project with the largest irrigation and drainage capacity in the Far East appeared in the east of the world, which was the first stop of the South-to-North Water Transfer Project in China. There are 33 units in the whole station, with a total power of 49,800 kilowatts, which can draw 473 tons of river water per second and 550 tons of river water by itself. One hour's pumping capacity can be used for transplanting rice seedlings in 40,500 mu of fields. The pumping capacity for one day and one night, if injected into a canal with a width of 1 m, can circle the earth.
