What does Hami mean?

Hami is the eastern gate of Xinjiang, which means "gate" in Uygur language.

Hami covers an area of 85,000 square kilometers, with a length of 404 kilometers from east to west and a width of 322 kilometers from north to south, accounting for about 5.2% of the total area of Xinjiang. The planned urban area is 333.3 square kilometers, and the built-up area is 25.89 square kilometers.
