A solid and wonderful school——Inspection experience of Zhujiajian Primary School

I learned that Zhujiajian Primary School in Putuo District, Zhoushan City, was very good at cultivating habits in May last year. At that time, my school was being renovated in full swing, waiting for the official opening of school on September 1. I heard from a friend that after visiting this school, her school issued a rule that students must wash their hands five times to prevent water stains on the ground. I didn’t expect that students’ habit cultivation would reach such a concrete level. I was deeply attracted by Zhujiajian Primary School and wanted to wait for the new school to open and conduct an on-site inspection.

The day has finally arrived!

On March 10, 2017, accompanied by Principal Zhou, Secretary Chen, Vice Principal Liu and other leaders of Zhujiajian Primary School, we conducted an in-depth inspection and study of the school. At the end of the day, I was shocked and felt better than what my friends had told me.

Early in the morning, the friendly and enthusiastic Principal Zhou invited us to observe the students’ sunny sports activities. After the bell rang, the students quickly arranged the items on the table, stood up and pushed their chairs under the table. Under the command of the leading student, students quickly lined up and gathered at the entrance of the classroom, and then walked in a traditional two-file column to the playground in a perpendicular line. This walking method looks very simple, but in fact it is difficult. If it were not for long-term training day after day, the walking would become rounded corners. The faces of the children walking towards us were filled with confident smiles. When they met us, they would whisper "Hello, guest teacher" from time to time. Their movements were neat and uniform when walking, showing their excellent organizational and management skills. Judging from the music playing and the students walking from the classroom to the playground, regular education is firmly grasped! I think there are at least two points worth mentioning. One is that the habit of tidying up has been developed. The desks and chairs are arranged neatly, the stools are put in, the books are placed on the right side of the desk drawer, and the schoolbags are placed on the left, which looks very orderly; second, the sunshine Physical exercise takes a large amount of form. First, each class performs a unified elliptical run. After reaching a certain amount of exercise, some classes practice skipping, and some classes play volleyball and football. Each class has its own way of exercising. What is commendable is that each class has its own way of exercising. It is very rare for children to exercise on their own designated field, and there are very few children walking back and forth, which shows that the children have a strong sense of rules.

Another thing that needs special mention is that the school requires each class to make class uniforms, which are available in various styles and each class has its own characteristics. Viewed from a height, one piece is green, one is yellow, one is red, One blue, colorful. I heard from Principal Zhou that the school has made 6 sets of class uniforms and 2 sets of school uniforms. The class uniforms are worn on a daily basis, and uniforms are worn during the flag-raising ceremony and major events on Monday. This is a great effort. Principal Zhou said that due to the excellent interactive effect and the significant improvement in teaching quality, two classes will be equipped in September this year, totaling four classes, with an investment of 1 million yuan. Due to the intervention of advanced equipment and the teacher's exquisite courseware as a learning scaffold, the capacity of this class is relatively large and the class efficiency is very good. It can be seen from this that Principal Zhou’s forward-looking vision has been heartily recognized by the teachers at the school.

The second class is a comprehensive practical course, presented in the form of a team class. This is the most exciting class class I have ever heard. The theme of the activity "I am the little master of the class" mainly describes the management process of the small post responsibility system in the class. It can be seen that there are posts everywhere in this class and everyone has something to do. Every detail in every class is handled by the children, which is very thoughtful. .

The whole process fully reflected the children's ownership characteristics and was almost entirely led by the children. The class teacher only connected a few sentences in the middle. There was no empty preaching in the whole activity, only positive energy from the heart. I think that through such class and team lessons, we can not only build up a sense of ritual in the hearts of students, but also truly implement the core socialist values. So wonderful! I couldn't help but clap my hands in the middle of the class, and even more loudly after the class was over, cheering for the class.

The third class visited the functional room under the leadership of the school leaders. The ratio of the functional rooms in their school to ordinary teachers is 1:1, that is, there are 24 functional rooms for every 24 classrooms. This alone makes me "envious and jealous". The school is equipped with a sand sculpture room, a marine life museum, a solar energy demonstration base, a sand painting room, a villa-style psychological counseling room, etc. The items in each function room are very neatly arranged without any clutter. The accompanying staff said that now the children After class, they will consciously put away the stools, straighten the table, and return the materials. There is no need to emphasize this point anymore. Children have already become accustomed to it. I also visited each office "by the way". Every table was neat and tidy, and there was no "garbled code" on it. It is conceivable that in order for children to learn to organize, teachers must first learn to organize their own desks.

Under the leadership of the accompanying teacher, we came to a large classroom, which was actually a standard kitchen. There were multiple stoves installed in the entire large room, each equipped with a range hood. The school hired chefs from star-rated restaurants from parents to conduct real cooking courses. It is said that this club activity was very popular as soon as it was opened. I think this is inevitable. I would also let my children learn it for one semester. After all, cooking is the most basic life skill.

After visiting various functional classrooms, I have only one thought: the children here are so happy!

Then comes the exciting moment - lunch for students, which was a hit before arriving. We walked to the second floor of the restaurant and waited for the children to arrive. I saw the leader of one class holding a class card and leading the children in uniforms to file in in a single file. The speed was brisk but not running, and there was basically no sound along the way. Queuing up, receiving food, walking back, and sitting down were all done in one go. While the children were eating quietly, the homeroom teacher reminded them softly that they should keep their feet on the ground while eating and not cross their legs. What a down-to-earth person! This is the real moral education. I believe that taking moral education routines to the extreme is also an innovation in education. The Disc Operation is also a highlight of the school. The children eat very cleanly. If there is nothing left, they can go to the on-site administrator to receive a Civilized Envoy Card after the meal. According to the principal, this card is very useful. If you collect a lot, it will not only get monthly praise, but it can also be used as park rewards and shopping vouchers at major events such as Children’s Day and flea markets. It has really cultivated financial awareness. There are four types of ambassador cards in schools, namely safety ambassador card, health ambassador card, learning ambassador card and environmental ambassador card. In the afternoon, I listened to the experience introduction of the director of the school’s moral education department and the three head teachers of lower, middle and high school. I learned a lot, especially the refined management of moral education. Zhujiajian Primary School has grasped the refined management of moral education to the extreme. Many The behaviors that we think are acceptable are all regulated in them, which even made me feel that this is not an ordinary elementary school, it is simply a juvenile military academy.

On the way back, I kept thinking. Principal Zhou of Zhujiajian Primary School is a down-to-earth person. When I was with him, I didn’t seem to talk much about educational concepts. I just focused on focusing on habit education and running a solid school. I think it is very valuable to be down-to-earth and take it one step at a time. Don’t cheat, don’t slack off, don’t be swayed by the rush for quick success, and understand what is an education that will benefit your children for life. Such a school and such a principal are worthy of admiration.
