Gansu industry polytechnic college was founded in 1979, formerly known as Tianshui Geological School, and originally belonged to the Second Ministry of Machinery Industry (later the Ministry of Nuclear Industry). Now it is a full-time general college directly under the Education Department of Gansu Province, and it is one of the earliest higher vocational colleges established in Gansu Province.
