Liping Zhaoxing Dong Village is located in the southeast of Liping County, Guizhou Province. It is located in a valley between two mountains. The village is shaped like a boat. 410 meters above sea level, 68 kilometers to the northwest to Liping County, 52 kilometers to the west to Congjiang County, and 102 kilometers to the southeast to Sanjiang Dong Autonomous County, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The highway passes along the village and is the fastest land passage from Liping County to Guangdong and Guangxi.

As far as the southern Dong people are concerned, Zhaoxing Dong Village is one of the few, with the reputation of "Qianjia Zhaodong" and "The First Village of Dong Township". Zhaoxing Dong Village is surrounded by mountains. The village is built in a basin in the mountains, with a small river running through it. The houses in the village are stilt-style buildings on stilts, row upon row, well-proportioned, all built of fir, with hard tops covered with small green tiles, simple and practical.

There is a saying in Dong Township that "there are seven hundred holes, and thousands of families have their own holes". Qibaiguandong refers to Guandong in Congjiang County; Qianjiazhaodong refers to Zhaoxing. If you want to experience the strong popularity of Dong people and the deep roots of Dong culture in Li, Cong and Rong areas in the south, you have to come to Zhaoxing. In terms of scale, the Miao family has Xijiang Dazhai, and the Dong family has Chejiang Dazhai and Zhaoxing Dazhai. Compared with Chejiang Dazhai, Zhaoxing Dazhai is superior in terms of momentum because the five villages are indistinguishably united. Not to mention anything else, the five drum towers, five stages, and five wind and rain bridges together create a scenery that is not only beautiful, but magnificent. Coupled with the rows of stilted wooden buildings, Geping, Hedang, Hecang, and gravel roads, walking in the village surrounded by streams can even feel like you have lost your direction and have no end.

Wuda Tuan Drum Tower

Although the village is integrated into one, according to the Dong family's rule of having one drum tower for each clan, there are five large groups in Zhaoxing Dazhai. The regiment has its own drum tower, namely the five drum towers of "benevolence, righteousness, propriety, wisdom and trust", which are called the "Zhaoxing Drum Tower Group". The tallest building is spectacular. Zhaoxing Dong Village also has five small and simple flower bridges built on the small river that passes through the village to match the drum tower. The flower bridges, drum towers and theater towers of the Benevolent and Volunteer Groups are unique in their craftsmanship. Zhaoxing Dong Village is all Dong ethnic group with the surname Lu, and is divided into five major Fang tribes, living in five natural areas, which are locally called "Tuan". It is divided into five groups: benevolent group, volunteer group, ritual group, intellectual group, and faith group. Zhaoxing is most famous for its Drum Tower Group, which is unique among Dong villages in the country and is known as the "Hometown of Drum Towers". The fifth regiment in the village has five drum towers, five flower bridges and five stages. The five drum towers have different appearances, heights, sizes and styles, making them a magnificent sight.

Rentuan Drum Tower: with seven eaves and octagonal spires, it is 21.7 meters high and covers an area of ??60 square meters.

Volunteer Drum Tower: Eleven eaves and octagonal spire, 25.8 meters high, covering an area of ??81.6 square meters.

Lituan Drum Tower: Thirteen eaves and octagonal spire, 23.1 meters high, occupying 70.3 square meters.

Zhi Tuan Drum Tower: with nine double eaves and octagonal roof, it is 14.9 meters high and covers an area of ??77.3 square meters.

Xin Tuan Drum Tower: with eleven double eaves and octagonal spire, it is 25.9 meters high and occupies 78.3 square meters. There is a couplet on the Drum Tower: "The sound of drum music shakes the capital and proves the prosperous times of today; the towering Dong village cheers and sings of peace in the world."
