Does Yunfu belong to western Guangdong or northern Guangdong?

Yunfu belongs to northern Guangdong.

Yunfu City is located in the central and western part of Guangdong Province, south of the middle reaches of the Xijiang River. It is adjacent to the Pearl River Delta and borders Zhaoqing, Foshan, Jiangmen, Yangjiang, Maoming, and Wuzhou in Guangxi. The urban area is more than 140 kilometers away from the provincial capital Guangzhou, and the waterway is 177 nautical miles away from Hong Kong.

A prefecture-level city was established in April 1994, with jurisdiction over Yuncheng District, Yun'an District, Xinxing County, and Yunan County, and in charge of Luoding City. Yunfu is an important node city in the Pearl River-Xijiang Economic Belt and one of the cities in the Guangzhou Metropolitan Area.

Topography

The terrain of Yunfu City is high in the southwest and low in the northeast. The main rivers in the city, Luoding River (also known as Nanjiang) and Xinxing River, both flow in a roughly southwest-northeast direction. The west, southwest, southeast and neighboring districts and cities are all bounded by mountains, but the north is bounded by the Xijiang River.

Hills are the main landform in Yunfu City, and they mostly develop along the edges of mountains. The high hills are 250 to 450 meters above sea level, and the low hills are 100 to 250 meters above sea level. The slopes of low hills are gentle, mostly 15 to 20 degrees. Of the total area, mountainous areas account for 60.5% and hilly areas account for 30.7%.
