The origin of Guanghan Baby Festival

Guanghan's "bag pulling" began in the Kangxi period of Qing Dynasty, and the "bag festival" originated from the folk custom of "traveling to all diseases" and "bag pulling".

After the Lantern Festival, people put on festive costumes and went out for an outing for a day. It is said that a spring outing on this day can eliminate all diseases and bring good luck to Pepsi. Therefore, people also call it "wandering all diseases" or "wandering faults", praying for eliminating disasters and diseases and making money into treasures.

"Bag Festival" has developed from a free folk activity to an organized "folk festival" and has become a cultural tourism brand with local characteristics in Guanghan. Guanghan, a small town in the southwest, is also famous for its "Bagging Festival". Guanghan Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government have always attached importance to Guanghan's "Bagging Festival", a local traditional folk cultural activity. In 2003, Guanghan Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government officially named Guanghan's "Bagging" folk activity as "Guanghan Bagging Culture Festival", and officially incorporated "Bagging" into local festivals.

Baby's day scene

On the 16th day of the first month of each year, people from Guanghan and neighboring Chengdu, Mianyang and other places bring the old and the young into Guanghan city (called Luocheng in ancient times) and gather in front of twelve ancient cypresses in Fanghu Park to witness the lively scene of "pulling bags".

The 12 ancient cypress in Fanghu Park was planted in the Ming Dynasty, which means "long life for a hundred years", "no illness" and "all the best". On this day every year, there are more than 200,000 tourists. Children's parents put their children's hats (commonly known as pig hats) on their favorite "baby" heads, indicating that "pulling" is successful.

More than 300 years later, the Bagging Festival in Guanghan became more and more famous and became the most popular folk activity in Guanghan. Due to the large number of people, the location has also increased from Fanghu Park to Jin Yan Park.
