Core socialist values

The 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China proposed to advocate prosperity, democracy, civilization and harmony, freedom, equality, justice and the rule of law, patriotism, professionalism, honesty and friendliness, and actively cultivate and practice socialist core values. Prosperity, democracy, civilization and harmony are the value goals at the national level, freedom, equality, justice and the rule of law are the value orientations at the social level, and patriotism, professionalism, honesty and friendliness are the value norms at the individual level of citizens. These 24 words are the basic content of socialist core values. [ 1-4]

"Prosperity, democracy, civilization and harmony" is the construction goal of China's socialist modern country, and it is also a concise basic concept of socialist core values from the perspective of value goals. It is at the highest level of socialist core values and plays a leading role in other levels of values. Being rich and strong is the natural state of economic construction in a modern socialist country, the long-cherished wish of the Chinese nation, and the material basis for the prosperity of the country and the happiness and well-being of the people. Democracy is a good wish of human society. The democracy we pursue is people's democracy, and its essence and core is that the people are the masters of the country. It is the life of socialism and the political guarantee to create a better and happier life for the people. Civilization is an important symbol of social progress and an important feature of modern socialist countries. It is the proper state of cultural construction in a socialist modernized country, a summary of national, scientific and popular socialist culture facing modernization, the world and the future, and an important support for realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Harmony is the basic concept of China traditional culture, which embodies the vivid situation of learning to teach, earning from labor, getting medical care for illness, providing for the old and living in a proper place. It is the value pursuit of modern socialist countries in the field of social construction and an important guarantee for the harmonious, stable, sustained and healthy development of the economy and society. "Freedom, equality, justice and the rule of law" is a vivid expression of a beautiful society and a concise expression of the basic concepts of socialist core values from the social level. It embodies the basic attributes of Socialism with Chinese characteristics and is the core value concept of our party's unswerving and long-term practice. Freedom refers to people's will, freedom of survival and development, a beautiful wish of human society and a social value goal pursued by Marxism. Equality refers to the equality of citizens before the law, and its value orientation is to continuously realize substantive equality. It requires respect and protection of human rights, and everyone enjoys the right to equal participation and equal development according to law. Justice is social fairness and justice, which is based on human liberation and the acquisition of freedom and equal rights, and is the fundamental value concept that the country and society should have. The rule of law is the basic way of governing the country, and governing the country according to law is the basic requirement of socialist democratic politics. It maintains and guarantees the fundamental interests of citizens through the construction of the legal system, and is the institutional guarantee for realizing freedom, equality, fairness and justice. "Patriotism, dedication, honesty and friendliness" are the basic moral standards of citizens and the basic concept of concise socialist core values from the perspective of personal behavior. It covers all fields of social moral life, is the basic moral standard that citizens must abide by, and is also the basic value standard to evaluate citizens' moral behavior choice. Patriotism is based on the deep feelings of personal dependence on the motherland, and it is also a code of conduct to regulate the relationship between individuals and the motherland. It is closely integrated with socialism and requires people to take the rejuvenation of China as their own responsibility, promote national unity, safeguard the reunification of the motherland and consciously serve the motherland. Dedication is the value evaluation of citizens' professional code of conduct, which requires citizens to be loyal to their duties, self-denial, serve the people and society, and fully embody the socialist professional spirit. Honesty is honesty and trustworthiness, a moral tradition handed down by human society for thousands of years, and also the key content of socialist moral construction. It emphasizes honest work, keeping promises and treating people sincerely. Friendship emphasizes that citizens should respect each other, care for each other, help each other, be harmonious and friendly, and strive to form a new socialist interpersonal relationship.
