201May 15, CCTV's Science Park successfully recorded "Children of the Earth-Top Ten Meritorious People in China's Seed Industry". Minister of Agriculture Han Changfu, Vice Minister Yu Xinrong, member of the Party Group of the Ministry of Agriculture, Director of the Department of Personnel and Labor Zeng Yichun, Chief Economist and Director of the General Office Bi Meijia attended the event.

On May 26th this year, the World Seed Industry Congress was held in Beijing. In recognition of the top ten seed industry meritorious persons, the Ministry of Agriculture arranged the "Children of the Earth-Top Ten Seed Industry Meritorious Persons Promotion in China" sponsored by the Agricultural Film Center and co-organized by Farmers Daily and China Seed Association.

At the promotion activities, the spirit of China seed industry displayed by ten meritorious persons deeply touched every audience.

Academician Yuan Longping, a rice breeder, described his "pastoral beauty and agricultural joy". Yuan Longping said that when he was a child, he visited a horticultural farm and saw red fruits and beautiful flowers, which made him dream of joining agriculture. After studying agriculture, Yuan Longping saw that the countryside was poor and agriculture was backward. In order to solve the problem of eating, he changed his sweet potato major to rice major.

Academician Fu Tingdong, a rapeseed breeder, and Academician Fang Zhiyuan, a vegetable breeder, devoted their lives to breeding. Fu Tingdong's 60-year scientific research notes and Fang Zhiyuan's collection of more than 1000 varieties of Chinese cabbage from all over the world exhibited at the promotion meeting made the audience feel their excellent quality of perseverance and hard work.

Rice varieties cultivated by Academician Xie Huaan, a rice breeder, and transgenic insect-resistant cotton cultivated by Guo Sandui, a cotton breeder, saved the hybrid rice and China cotton industry in crisis with their own responsibilities and responsibilities.

Young Mai series wheat varieties cultivated by Academician Cheng Shunhe, a wheat breeder, have become the main varieties of alternative varieties in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River for four times. Cheng Xiangwen, a maize breeder, has bred 4 national varieties and 9 provincial varieties in the past 50 years. They showed the innovative spirit of constantly breaking through themselves.

Li Denghai, a maize breeder, and Zhang Haiyin, a famous seed entrepreneur, are pioneers of seed industrialization in China. They have made outstanding contributions to the marketization and modernization of seed industry in China.

Li Zhensheng, a wheat breeder, described his research and breeding experience with the theme of "starting with interest and ending with perseverance", and called on the older generation of breeders to "inherit, help and lead" the young breeders, encouraging the younger generation to take over the baton, and provoking the burden of China's national seed industry development and the dream of a seed industry power.

Ge Haoxin, a large grain grower from Fuyang City, Anhui Province, came to the party with this year's new ears of wheat, thanking Cheng Shunhe for cultivating wheat varieties to increase production and income.

At the event site, Guo Sandui, on behalf of the top ten outstanding figures in seed industry, issued the spirit initiative of China seed industry, which is "persistent dream, cooperative innovation, dedication to seed industry, strengthening the country and enriching the people", making new contributions to realizing the dream of national seed industry to strengthen the country and ensuring national food security.

Minister of Agriculture Han Changfu and Vice Minister Yu Xinrong presented certificates to ten meritorious persons. In his speech, Minister Han Changfu called on: "Comrades on the national agricultural front should learn from outstanding figures in seed industry, learn from their spirit of persistent pursuit of dreams, striving for progress, and realizing China's dream of becoming a strong country in seed industry, and learn from their spirit of persisting in cooperation and innovation, overcoming difficulties and creating new miracles in seed industry; Learn from their spirit of daring to contribute to the seed industry, make new and regretless contributions to the development of the seed industry, learn from their spirit of enriching the country and the people, focus on agricultural development, increase farmers' income, and ensure that China people's rice bowls are mainly filled with China grain. "In order to recognize the contribution of ten meritorious persons and support their cause, the Ministry of Agriculture decided to reward each meritorious person with one million scientific research funds.

Principal responsible comrades of relevant departments of the Ministry of Agriculture, Farmers Daily, China Seed Association, National Agricultural Technology Center, Science and Technology Development Center, Agricultural Research Institute, China Academy of Agricultural Sciences, China Agricultural University, Beijing Seed Management Station and Beijing Academy of Agricultural Sciences, as well as large planters and grassroots representatives from Hebei, Anhui and Beijing were invited to participate in this promotion activity.
