The School of Foreign Languages attaches great importance to foreign exchange and cooperation.

The college has successfully held many large-scale international conferences. In June 2004, the School of Foreign Languages successfully held the first international seminar on language, culture and foreign language teaching. More than 200 experts, scholars and teachers from many countries and regions attended the conference and discussed hot topics in different fields such as linguistics, literature, cross-cultural communication and foreign language teaching. The meeting was affirmed and highly praised by the delegates. In June, 2007, Foreign Languages Institute successfully held the 13th International Symposium on Intercultural Communication and the 7th China Symposium on Intercultural Communication. This international academic conference is jointly sponsored by Harbin Institute of Technology, China Intercultural Communication Society and International Intercultural Communication Society. The theme of the conference is "Diversity, Harmony and Cross-cultural Communication". More than 500 experts and scholars from more than 30 countries and regions on five continents gathered together to discuss hot issues in cross-cultural communication. These conferences have had a good influence at home and abroad, further expanding the visibility and influence of Harbin Institute of Technology in the field of foreign language-related academic research.

Every year, the college invites professors from well-known universities at home and abroad to give lectures or lectures. In recent years, our school has invited many experts and scholars to give lectures on language, literature, culture, educational concepts, testing, scientific research methods, online teaching and other aspects, so that teachers and students can understand the research trends and latest trends in various fields in foreign countries and other institutions, and the lectures have been welcomed and praised by teachers and students.

University teachers actively participate in international academic exchanges. Nearly 20 teachers participate in international academic exchanges and lectures every year, and they are also very active in domestic academic exchanges.

In terms of student training, the college has established cooperative training programs such as international student exchange with many universities in Canada, the United States, Japan, Russia, South Korea and other countries. Under the framework of international cooperation between Harbin Institute of Technology and Korea University, the college sends 1 international students to Korea University every year. So far, three students have gone to Korea University to study English. Under the framework of cooperation and exchange between Harbin Institute of Technology and Moscow University, the School of Foreign Languages signed an agreement with the School of Foreign Languages of Moscow University to carry out cooperative research and exchanges between teachers and students for further study. Cooperation projects with Winnipeg University, Korea University and Moscow University are helpful for English majors to have academic exchanges with foreign universities and carry out follow-up international cooperation, which is conducive to cultivating high-quality foreign language talents.
