"Who knows that every grain is hard?" This is a lesson we learned from childhood about saving and not wasting. A similar preaching to a child who has just entered kindergarten may be counterproductive, so we might as well arouse the child's * * * through a picture book story!

"We are Happy Meals" is a food education picture book brought by Hurricane Society. The picture book tells the story of the growth of the rice baby in the rice kindergarten, which makes the children seem to have come to the rural rice fields to understand and get close to the food with a vivid perspective.

2. Review of activities

(1) Activity background

Time: August 23rd, 2020 18: 00- 18: 40.

Venue: Community Garden (Outdoor)

Number of participants: 10 families, mainly 2-6 years old.

(2) Warm-up and lead-in

The picture book tells the story of rice children in rice kindergarten. Considering the approaching school year and the age distribution of the children attending the story meeting, I began to introduce the story by asking questions: "Children, school will start in a few days. Please raise your hand if you like kindergarten! " Most children shake their heads to show that they don't like it. Only two children raised their little hands. I quickly praised the two children. Who would have thought that this little gesture of praise made other children who didn't like kindergarten change their minds and said they liked it, so everyone got a praise! The story begins now ~

(3) Speaking and reading picture books

Huh? Why are there rice kindergartens in paddy fields? Are the children in kindergarten, too What will happen to them in kindergarten?

Before turning into white rice grains, the children of rice grains went to kindergarten in brown coats.

In class, rice children and teachers jump, wrestle and read picture books together; At the sports meeting, everyone takes part in basketball games, running and doing gymnastics ... (Children are invited to demonstrate high jump, running and doing gymnastics, and many little frogs are surprised here, encouraging them to observe more and ask more questions)

The sparrow, the enemy of the rice, is coming to attack, and the scarecrow director is coming to protect everyone.

After a while, the diners ushered in the graduation ceremony of the kindergarten. After graduation, the rice husks faded from brown and turned into white rice grains. As they wished, they turned into rice balls, sushi, rice cakes, fried rice, pancakes and other delicacies and came to our table just to welcome us. It is their appearance that makes us full of vitality every day.

In the end, the temptation of food and the proximity of food aroused children's appetite and paved the way for the next expansion activities.

This book is not a popular science picture book, but the story also contains a lot of popular science knowledge. In the process of guiding children to understand, I feel that a meal and a dish are hard-won, and I don't preach.

(4) Expansion and extension

Expanding activities combined with food and children's age characteristics, I chose to make doughnuts. I brought some plasticine of different colors from home, and cut small pieces of paper from cardboard as the decoration of doughnuts. Divide the plasticine and let them raise their hands to choose the color they want. Every child can choose different color combinations to make beautiful donuts, and they are distributed in an orderly way. Next, I demonstrated the simple method of donuts, and left the rest of the work to the children.

This time, the handiwork is simple, and there will be very good works in 10 minutes, and the beautiful vision will further stimulate the beautiful taste ~ If they can eat one more bowl of rice when they go home, then I will be secretly pleased!

(5) Summary and reflection

I arranged a story meeting at 6 o'clock, because I came back late from attending a lecture at my daughter's early education institution, and almost wanted to give up the story meeting. I trotted home, hurriedly prepared activities and appeared at the story meeting. Seeing the waiting children, the mother of a 3-year-old girl said, "After listening to your story, she came home and said that I didn't speak it well." Haha, I'm glad I came back, but I didn't give up ~

An 8-year-old sister brought her 3-year-old sister to listen to the story. At first, my sister was a little nervous. My sister is taking her home. I found my daughter's toy in my bag and shared it with my sister to calm her down. My sister interacted with me a lot throughout the story, and she was very dedicated to making handicrafts. Such an excellent little audience really wants her to come to every game!

Every story will have some exciting power, internalized into endless power!
