In 2002, the Beijing-Zhuhai (Sea) Expressway, which runs through the north and south of China, started construction. The construction of this line is very difficult, and it is called "the most challenging mountain expressway" project internationally. Dou Tiecheng was ordered to reinforce. Seeing so many foreign sophisticated equipment, he seems to have found a treasure and is very excited. It was winter at that time, and the mountainous area in northern Guangdong was also chilly in spring. Dou Tiecheng led everyone to live in a distribution station with no doors, no windows and no concrete floor. In order to master the performance and principle of foreign equipment as soon as possible, Dou Tiecheng contacted the equipment supplier in time, consulted the materials, studied while working according to the instructions, and quickly completed the installation task. During the no-load experiment before the completion of power transmission, an unexpected fault suddenly appeared: a transformer switch kept tripping. Dou Tiecheng was very calm. He opened the drawings, checked the faults and measured the current against the installation drawings, but the faults could not be ruled out. When the owner came, he insisted that the equipment was the most advanced in the world and there might be problems in the construction. In the dead of night, Dou Tiecheng climbed up and down with tools on his back, measured data and turned over drawings. After several hours of testing, Dou Tiecheng finally found the problem. French experts invited by the host flew in from other places and hurriedly asked why. Dou Tiecheng explained the whole process of inspection, testing and adjustment in detail. Experts with a grain of salt, continuous shooting took a photo, and then personally check the test, check again and again. Finally, he was moved.

In July 2006, Dou Tiecheng's electric company built the Banshanpu traction substation in zhejiang-jiangxi railway. This is the largest and most technologically advanced substation in China. The owner has repeatedly advanced the construction period, and Dou Tiecheng, who is full of challenging personality, gladly takes the lead. At that time, the construction environment was very bad. Rain was accompanied by high temperature, mosquitoes were rampant, and it was humid and sultry. He leads his colleagues to work overtime until midnight every night. When the transformer in the substation was in place, more than 70 people worked for more than 4 hours, and two 50-ton transformers were finally in place. After repeated comparison, careful study and consulting technical data, Dou Tiecheng boldly changed the small-capacity switch into a large-capacity switch.
