What do predicative adjectives mean?

1. The so-called predicative adjectives refer to those adjectives that are only used as predicative after linking verbs and cannot be used as attributive before nouns.

2. Predicative adjectives in English are very limited. To sum up, there are mainly the following categories:

(1) Some adjectives that begin with a-: afraid afraid alive alone alone ashamed ashamed asleep asleep awake.

(2) Some adjectives indicating health: fine, healthy, ill, ill, and healthy.

(3) Some adjectives describing feelings or moods: glad happy sad sad.
