Not long ago, the Insurance Regulatory Commission of the Bank of China issued a notice to rectify short-term health insurance, and stopped all unqualified products before May 1.

Short-term health insurance refers to health insurance with a guarantee period of 1 year and less than 1 year, excluding the guarantee renewal clause, including millions of medical insurance and critical illness insurance with a guarantee period of 1 year.

Why the sudden rectification?

The main reason is two words: renewal.

1 year health insurance coverage period is 1 year, and it needs to be renewed upon expiration. I don't know if I can buy it.

At the beginning, millions of medical insurance were 1 year. Later, some insurance companies developed medical insurance to ensure renewal, such as 6 years of good medical insurance and 20 years of Ping An E-health insurance.

During the warranty renewal period, no matter whether you have been hospitalized due to serious illness or the product has stopped selling, you can renew your insurance and continue to enjoy the protection, which is undoubtedly very attractive to ordinary insurance consumers. What is written in black and white in the contract is the most trustworthy.

At first glance, the remaining 1 year million medical insurance is in a hurry, so the publicity is also changing, such as "promised renewal", "continuous renewal to 100 years old" and "lifetime limit of 8 million" .........................................................................................

However, promises that are not written in the contract are all hooligans.

In response to this phenomenon, the China Banking Insurance Regulatory Commission has carried out rectification:

Short-term health insurance with a term of 1 year must clearly state in the contract that "renewal is not guaranteed", and the words "promise to renew" and other words suspected of misleading sales cannot appear on the publicity page.

The nonconformities shall be rectified before May 1.

Which products will be affected?

If you take out long-term medical insurance, you will be guaranteed to renew your insurance for n years, and will not be affected by the new regulations, such as Good Medical Insurance Long-term Medical Insurance, Ping An E Life Insurance Long-term Medical Insurance, Fosun United Beyond Insurance 2020, Ruihua Medical Insurance and so on.

If you insure 1 year products, whether you will stop selling mainly depends on:

1. Whether the contract is clearly marked with the clause "No guarantee for renewal";

2. Whether there are misleading words such as continuous renewal fees on the publicity page.

For example, Alipay said that good medical insurance hospitalization is obviously illegal.

If your insurance policy is unfortunately successful, please quickly choose a suitable product to prepare for re-insurance, and choose the product that guarantees renewal.
