Present situation of Laoshan Yang Huijun
It's the seventieth anniversary of the founding of New China. People living in a peaceful and happy environment may have heard of the war, but not many people really know about life on the battlefield. I was a witness to the war. In 1984, I participated in the defensive war against Vietnam in Laoshan area of Yunnan Province with my Ministry, smelled the smoke, saw the bloody scene and buried the sacrificed comrades. I feel that when we enjoy a peaceful and comfortable life, we still have to be prepared for danger in times of peace, and the alarm is always ringing.
In the Laoshan area where I participated in the battle, a mountain range of more than ten kilometers in Fiona Fang extends from the main peak of Laoshan and several mountain legs into Vietnamese territory, forming a "chicken claw" shape with an average slope of not less than 3 degrees. The valleys on both sides of the mountain legs are bottomless, and some places are vertical cliffs. Before the war, Laoshan area was a virgin forest with dense vegetation, tropical rain forest and beautiful scenery. Because in the tropical rain forest area, the mountains are shrouded in clouds all day long, and it is difficult to see the sun once in many days, so the humidity is quite high. In such an environment, you can imagine how hard and difficult it is for Laoshan soldiers to get clothes, food, shelter and transportation.
Let's talk about dressing first, because soldiers are always ready to fight, so they can't take off their clothes day and night. Our wet clothes here in Hefei will soon be dried. No matter how they are dried, the clothes of Laoshan soldiers are wet. You can squeeze out water when you take them down and twist them. Wearing wet clothes every day is not a taste!
Let's talk about food. At that time, our army's logistics support was already quite good, and the whole country supported the front line with abundant materials. However, it is not easy to transport it to the front position. It takes three or four hours to cross the old mountain by hand, and then dozens or even hundreds of kilograms of materials are carried on the back. The military industry makes a round trip at most once a day, and the fresh vegetables and fruits are almost rotten when they are transported to the front. Frontier soldiers mainly rely on canned food to satisfy their hunger. It tastes good once in a while, but I can't stand it for a long time. For example, compressed biscuits, thin two pieces, are very small, and they are eaten in a few bites, but they can't be eaten in the stomach, and the stomach is uncomfortable. Although it is rainy and humid, it is very difficult to eat water. It depends entirely on the back of the military. A soldier only has one teacup to drink every day. Brushing his teeth and washing his face depends on rain, not to mention taking a bath. It is normal for frontline soldiers not to take a bath for several months. Many officers and men are generally "squatting" and holding guns naked.
the condition of "living" is even more difficult. Every front-line officer has a "cat's ear hole", and the battalion and regiment command posts are made of I-shaped steel and sleepers, with more than a dozen layers of sandbags pressed on them. The "cat's ear hole" is 1.5 meters long, .8 meters wide and 1 meter high. When it is dug out of the rock, it must be added with "corrugated steel" to prevent landslides. People can't stand up, lie upright and even stretch their arms inside. This place is called "animal world" by our old mountain. Monkeys and pythons can be seen everywhere, and more are mice and rope mosquitoes. On the defensive position of a platoon, there is at least a group of rats. Soldiers get in from one end of the quilt, and rats jump out from the other end of the quilt. Many soldiers are bitten by rats. Besides flies, why is it called flies? Because it looks like a fly, but it is many times smaller than a fly, but it is much more powerful than a mosquito. Wherever it bites, it is a bloody mouth, and it is also dripping with yellow water. No soldier's skin is good and complete. The mouse ran, the shells shook, and the sand fell straight on the soldiers. This is a true portrayal of the life of frontline soldiers.
Finally, let's talk about "OK". Everyone walks on two legs, but Laoshan soldiers have to walk on three legs, and "Laoshan stick" is the third leg of frontline soldiers. Because the mountain is high, steep, rugged and muddy, what is more serious is that the old mountain is full of mines: Type 58 and Type 72 pressure thunder, as well as jumping thunder and directional thunder, which directly threaten the lives of soldiers, and there is a danger of rolling into the minefield without using the "old mountain stick". Therefore, the soldiers of Laoshan always remember one sentence: Don't walk where no one has walked, and don't step where there are no footprints. Why are there so many mines? Because of the repeated struggles in the Laoshan area, both the enemy and ourselves have laid many mines.
Life on the battlefield is hard, but fighting is even more cruel.
The average age of soldiers in our army is 2 years old. I was 22 years old that year. I just graduated from the military academy and took the position of platoon leader. I can't tell at ordinary times that wartime soldiers are so cute. In 1984, Hangzhou and other coastal cities were at the forefront of reform and opening up, with pop music everywhere. Soldiers went to the front with four-speaker tape recorders, while model operas such as "Du Fu Shan" were also broadcast on the border and county radio stations in Yunnan. The border people joked that we were "foreign soldiers fighting foreign wars, so don't make a foreign image." It is such a group of child soldiers that have withstood the test of life and death on the battlefield of blood and fire.
When the access road was opened, a foot of class six soldier Chen Jiajun, a native of Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province, was blown off. When I was transported for rescue, I naively thought that the foot could be connected, so I put the blown foot in a hanging bag and carried it down on a stretcher. Who knows, in order to save his life, not only his foot could not be connected, but also his leg was amputated at a high position. I can't help crying when I think of that scene so far.
In the position of the 398th Artillery Corps, I witnessed the sacrifice of two soldiers. In the morning, two scouts had just returned from a latent mission, and they were almost in safety, but they were discovered by the Vietnamese army. A burst of artillery fire came, and when the smoke cleared, two soldiers were gone. A heart landed on the highway, and the eagle circled in the sky. I asked the soldiers to take it back, but the new soldiers were afraid, so I said, you dig a hole, and I'll take it back and bury it. At that time, I was completely integrated into the battlefield, knowing nothing about fear but protecting my comrades and destroying the enemy. After the war, we sent an urn to every martyr's family. The urn is not necessarily the ashes of our loved ones, but one thing is certain, it must be the ashes of the martyrs.
The soldiers are really great, all of them are heroes. Yang Kunming, a soldier from Fengxian, Shanghai, was shattered, and Jiang Weiguang, a soldier from Huaibei, was burned red and swollen by the shock wave, full of blood, and couldn't see anything clearly, but they just didn't want to get off the ground and couldn't fight directly, so they had to stay on the ground to help us press the bullet. Chen Dongjun, a soldier of Huoqiu nationality, was injured by shrapnel in his right arm. He simply bandaged it and charged with a gun in his left hand. He was not injured in the line of fire ...
Yellow sand wears golden armor in hundreds of battles, but he will not return it until he breaks Loulan. The smoke has dispersed and the war has passed. We veterans who participated in the war have washed away the dust and devoted ourselves to peace building. However, I can't forget those years of fighting, and I can't forget my disabled and heroic comrades-in-arms. In countless dreams over the years, I drank a toast with the sacrificed comrades-in-arms. Yes, in order to build a new China and live a peaceful and happy life today, from the founding of the Party to the 25,-mile Long March, from Jinggangshan to Yan 'an, from Xibaipo to Beijing, from crossing the Yangtze River to liberating China, from resisting US aggression and aiding Korea to defending Treasure Island, countless revolutionary martyrs fought bloody battles and sacrificed their lives, and some even left their names. Compared with these revolutionary martyrs, although I have made meritorious military service in the battlefield, I have gained a lot. There is no reason not to cherish the present, the post and the hard-won peace and tranquility.
