What is Science and Technology Festival?

The Edinburgh International Science and Technology Festival began in 1989 and was initiated by the City of Edinburgh Council and the Scottish Executive. It is one of the largest science and technology festivals in Europe and even the world.

The 2006 Edinburgh Science and Technology Festival was held from April 5th to 16th. Hands-on experiments are one of the features of this Science and Technology Festival. Under the banner "Have an Unforgettable Day", the annual Edinburgh Technology Festival showcases the charm of technology to adults and children.

During the twelve-day Science and Technology Festival, more than 150 activities were held in different locations in Edinburgh, including hands-on production, exhibitions, lectures and parades. Featured activities of the Science and Technology Festival include Professor Steven Ross's "Explanation, Improvement and Utilization of the Mind" and TV science popularizer Dr. Adam Hart-Davies' answers to wonderful questions about life.

Children can experience wonder at TechFest’s family activities. Here, they can become DNA detectives, discover dinosaurs or build a "Lego" robot. Here you also have the opportunity to visit Edinburgh Butterfly and Insect World and the Royal Botanic Gardens.

This annual event attracts many visitors from across the UK and abroad. In addition, it is the world's oldest (and the UK's largest) public celebration of technology.
