1953 Three volunteer sanatoriums in Daye, Xiangyang and Xiaogan were cancelled, and Huanggang Sanatorium was renamed as "Second Rehabilitation Hospital of Hubei Provincial Health Department", with 500 beds, under the leadership of Rehabilitation Hospital Administration of Health Department. The original 67th Army Preparatory Hospital in Xianning was changed to the first rehabilitation hospital in the province, and Honghu was the third rehabilitation hospital.

On February 2 1, 1955, with the approval of the provincial people's government, the first and third rehabilitation hospitals were abolished, and the second rehabilitation hospital was changed to "Rehabilitation Hospital of Hubei Provincial Health Department", with 500 beds, under the leadership of the provincial health department.

1973 March 14, the hospital was renamed as "Huanggang Second People's Hospital".
