Pingliang is a prefecture-level city in Gansu Province.

Pingliang City is located in the eastern part of Gansu Province and is the geometric center of the "Golden Triangle" where Shaanxi, Gansu and Ningxia meet. It crosses Longshan (Guanshan), borders Xianyang, Shaanxi to the east, Dingxi and Baiyin, Gansu to the west, Baoji, Shaanxi and Tianshui, Gansu to the south, and Guyuan, Ningxia and Qingyang, Gansu to the north.

Pingliang is one of the birthplaces of Chinese civilization. As early as 3,000 years ago, the Zhou Dynasty created a relatively advanced farming culture in the Jinghe River Basin. In 376 AD, the former Qin Dynasty destroyed Qianliang, took the meaning of "pacifying the Liang Kingdom", and established Pingliang County, hence the name Pingliang Shi. Pingliang has many historical and cultural relics, and 2,257 cultural relics from the Yangshao Culture, Qijia Culture and other periods have been discovered. The Daoyuan culture of Kongtong Mountain, the ancient Fuxi culture, the ancient culture of Queen Mother of the West, and the medical culture of Huangfu Mi are uniquely charming.

There are 5A-level tourist attractions in the city, such as Kongtong Mountain, Yunyan Temple, Nandong Temple, etc. It has been rated as an outstanding tourist city in China and one of the top ten scenic spots that Chinese customers are most satisfied with. In December 2018, the list of the top ten charming cities in China in 2018 was released, and Pingliang won the "Charming Cultural Tourism Poverty Alleviation City of the Year". In October 2019, it was identified as the "Third Batch of Urban Black and Odorous Water Treatment Demonstration Cities". In October 2020, it was named a National Double Support Model City (County).
