What is a jumping comic?

Jumping, formerly known as Weekly Juvenile Jumping, was published by the Japanese Ying Ji Society. At present, it is the serial comic Magazine with the highest circulation in Japan, ranking first among the three major weekly juvenile comic magazines in Japan (Weekly Youth Jump, Weekly Youth Sunday and Weekly Youth Magazine). The comic magazine was founded in July 1968 (Showa 43). This is a biweekly magazine, which became a weekly magazine on 1969 and sold at the price of 230 yen every Monday. The circulation of each issue 1993 exceeds 6 million copies.

The success of Weekly Youth JUMP is related to many famous cartoonists. Famous cartoonists such as Tsukukita, Toriyama Akira, Masami Kurumada and Takehiko Inoue were the main painters of Weekly Youth JUMP. Today, Eiichiro Oda, Kishimoto Masashi, Tite Kubo, Togashi Yoshihiro, Takeshi Obata, Akira Amano, Yusuke Murata, Hideaki Sorachi and others have become the backbone of Youth JUMP Weekly. However, in recent years, the emerging new painters, Shimabe Lightyear, Falling Bridge Width and Yachui Kentaro, represent the future hope of the Weekly Youth JUMP.

The spirit of "friendship, hard work and victory" is the main theme of its publication. "Hot-blooded, touching and interesting" is the popular theme of this weekly. The published works are mainly action-adventure, mostly with fantasy color, and deliberately publicize personality and pursue tortuous plots. Occasionally there are some works about love, sports and history. Most works have beautiful characters, so they also have a large number of young readers. The magazine has set up a number of awards for comics, including the Osamu Tezuka Award and the Akazuka Award, as well as the Twelve Newcomers Award, King Story Inflammation and Jumping Digital Comics Award specially designed for computer FLASH cartoonists, which provide more opportunities for new comics.

The cartoons published in Junior JUMP Weekly mainly include Dragon Ball, One Piece, Naruto, Death, Family Education, Silver Soul, Tennis Prince, Exorcist, Death Note, Chess Soul, Slam Dunk Master and Devil Daddy.
