However, today, except for a few areas where turtles are not threatened, the number of turtles in most areas is declining sharply, and many populations are even on the verge of extinction. Their living conditions are in jeopardy, so it is urgent to protect turtles.

In order to protect the spawning ground of turtles, tourists are not allowed to enter the spawning ground beach. It is precisely because of proper protection that the green seawater, pure white waves and naked brown rocks here are transparent and shining in the scorching sun. Located at 22 north latitude, surrounded by the sea on three sides, the sea is blue and clear, the beach sand is delicate, the coastline is long and narrow, and the natural scenery is picturesque. The staff of the mission department of the turtle reserve administration told the team members that June-October is the season for turtles to lay eggs ashore every year. Due to their living habits, turtles tend to lay eggs ashore in the quiet and dark night. In order to create a better spawning environment for turtles, and to better observe and study the spawning process of turtles, the staff in the reserve usually stay on duty until the early hours of the morning.

Visitors can watch the lovely appearance of turtles swimming at close range and appreciate the magic of nature. The team members carefully watched the lively turtles swimming, classified them according to the characteristics of the turtles they just learned, and applied the theory to practice, deeply feeling that they benefited a lot. In order to make it easier for the team members to understand the basic knowledge of turtles more intuitively, the staff of the Administration enthusiastically gave the team several illustrated brochures.

The killing of turtles by human beings has led to a sharp decline in the number of turtles. Huidong county set up a nature reserve in the harbor turtle bay. The establishment of the reserve and the implementation of protection measures effectively curbed the killing of turtles, and then became the only national turtle reserve in China, and the importance and status of turtle protection work was further enhanced. At the national level, turtles are also listed as second-class protected animals in the country, and they are listed as objects that are prohibited from buying, selling and killing. However, it is far from enough to do a good job in protecting turtles and help them recover their numbers. From a macro perspective, global efforts are needed to protect them.
