The art education of China Communication University of the Academy of Film and Television Arts basically started and developed at the same time as the radio and television industry in China. In order to meet the needs of economic and social development, the former Beijing Broadcasting Institute decided to adjust the professional layout, changing the departments originally divided by departments into colleges reorganized by disciplines. The adjustment of specialty layout integrates school-running resources and teaching strength, highlights the advantages of disciplines, adapts to the inherent laws of discipline development, and maintains its distinctive characteristics in higher education and leading position in similar disciplines with the trend of continuous innovation and change. Under the background of discipline reorganization and department integration, the Academy of Film and Television Arts came into being.

The Academy of Film and Television Arts was established in 2002. It consists of five departments, namely, literature department, director performance department, photography department and fine arts department. At that time, it was a relatively large secondary college in our school. In just a few years, with the strong support of the school and the support of all walks of life, the teachers, students and staff of the whole hospital have worked together, which has enabled our hospital to achieve leap-forward development and made a qualitative leap in discipline construction, personnel training, scientific research, teaching staff and management system construction. In May 2005, recording arts University merged with the Academy of Film and Television Arts, and the new Academy of Film and Television Arts ushered in two departments, namely, the Music Department and the Recording Department. So far, our college has realized the whole training mechanism of film and television art education. The scale of the school is bigger, the disciplines and specialties are more complete, the number and quality of students are more considerable, the teachers are more abundant, and the overall strength of running a school is significantly improved. At present, the Academy of Film and Television Arts is not only the largest school in China Communication University with the widest coverage of disciplines and specialties, but also the most powerful, largest, most distinctive and well-known school in China. The college is moving towards the goal of "leading in China, internationally renowned, innovative in knowledge and leading in specialty".

The college has seven departments, namely, literature department, director performance department, photography department, art department, music department and recording department. It has four main disciplines: radio and television art, film science, drama and opera science and musicology, and radio and television art is a national key discipline; At present, there are 1 postdoctoral research stations in art, 5 doctoral programs in radio and television art, film science, drama and drama science, music science and art science (two disciplines), 6 master programs in radio and television art, film science, drama and drama science, music science, art science (two disciplines) and fine arts science, and MFA/kloc. The college's professional setting covers the whole process of film and television art education, covering every link in the creative chain of radio and television programs, such as editing, directing, acting, filming, recording and beauty. The faculty of the Academy of Film and Television Arts is dominated by powerful scholar artists. At present, the college has a total of full-time undergraduates 1234. With the leap-forward development of graduate education in schools during the Tenth Five-Year Plan period, graduate education has also leapt to a new level. At present, the college has 762 graduate students and 69 doctoral students. The expansion of the postgraduate lineup marks that the talent training of the college is moving forward to the training of high-level professionals in a down-to-earth manner.

In order to meet the needs of high-speed development of running a school, the construction of college teachers has also achieved leap-forward development. At the beginning of the hospital, the number of people increased rapidly from 78 to 172. Among 157 teachers, there are 33 professors and 39 associate professors. Among them, there are 10 doctoral tutors and 47 master tutors, and the number of teachers with master's and doctoral degrees is 123, accounting for 75% of the total number of full-time teachers. Among them are well-known senior professors, budding young and middle-aged scholars, scholar-like artists who have won many national and provincial awards such as Golden Eagle Award, Golden Rooster Award, China Watch Award and Flying Award, as well as film works shortlisted for Cannes Film Festival and Tokyo International Film Festival.
