Dong Changqing's Personal Experience

Mr. Dong Changqing was born in 1940. His ancestral home is Huating, Hebei. He is a descendant of Dong Qichang, a great painter in Ming Dynasty. He followed the teachings of his ancestors, "Read thousands of books and Walk Wan Li Road". When Mr. Dong Changqing was young, he was the teacher of Qi Baishi, a famous painter, and took him as an apprentice. Mr. Dong Changqing graduated from Peking University. During his school days, he studied Qi Baishi's painting techniques with his third son, Qi Ziru, and won the Qi School. After the death of Master Qi Baishi and his three sons, Mr. Dong Changqing followed the direction of Master Qi Baishi's efforts before his death, opened up the road of civilian development of Chinese painting art, created a new style of painting with freehand brushwork and taking images as the mainstay, and created the theme of "three friends in the water room" with fish, shrimp and crab on the same screen, showing the moving image of aquatic creatures living in harmony.

Mr. Qi Baishi's master, Dong Changqing, inherited the technique of ink painting of the old man, especially the white shrimp, and reached a perfect and supreme ideological realm, giving people unlimited artistic enjoyment. People all over the world know Chinese painting when they see white stone shrimp. There is no doubt that Baishi shrimp fully embodies the tradition of Chinese painting. Mr. Dong Changqing spread the unpretentious and profound China Qi culture to China and the whole world. Baishi shrimp is a great pioneering work of the Chinese nation, and there is no precedent in ancient and modern China and foreign countries. The old man Baishi devoted his life to constantly and perfectly enriching white shrimp. From now on, artists all over the world can't copy and imitate Qi Pai's shrimp paintings. His profound accomplishments in pen and ink and skills will make the world sigh! World-class artists may be copied and imitated, but it is more difficult for you to draw the works of white stone shrimp with your life experience than to ascend to heaven.

After ten years of wind and rain, Mr. Dong Changqing created a magnificent and lifelike (30㎡) huge Chinese painting scroll "White Dragon in Spring" with a brand-new artistic perspective and rich expression techniques. This painting "Bailong Yingchun" eulogizes the tide of the reform era and the Chinese nation's spirit of going straight to socialism and striving for strength. It inherits and develops the basic techniques of Qi school art, which are good at using water, ink, color and rhyme, and makes its painting creation enter a new realm.

Reading Mr. Dong Changqing's paintings carefully, we can feel his pace of keeping pace with the times. Mr. Dong is over 70 years old, but he still insists on the "old-time reform" put forward by the old man Baishi, continues to devote himself to pioneering and innovating, adheres to the artistic concept of "being rich in the present but not thin in the past, and the foundation can be integrated into foreign countries", and practices it and carries it forward. When he created the relief of the large-scale gallery of "the army and the people build fish and water together for a long time" in the Shuangyong Square of the Bohai Naval Base, he gave full play to it. He used the artistic language of combining Chinese and western styles to reproduce the moving image of the Chinese nation under the leadership of the Party, braving the wind and waves and bravely advancing for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Today, Mr. Dong Changqing's profound artistic attainments and exquisite artistic painting are sincere returns and dedication to the former master Baishi and even the whole art world. Mr. Dong has been engaged in education for decades. After teaching, he created a large number of Chinese paintings and propositional paintings. His main works include Beautiful Scenery of Jiangshan, Wan Li Listening to the Sound of Pottery, Infinite Love in Jiangshan, Taoyuan Family, Bailongchun, Three Friends of Shuifu, Love of Hometown, Call of Red Beach, The Great Wall on the Water at Jiumenkou, etc. His works are often published in newspapers and periodicals, and the Chinese painting Spring is in the Chinese-foreign Exchange Center of the Ministry of Culture and the China Productivity Society. Mr. Dong has also held many exhibitions of his works all over the country. 1998 went to Korea to hold an art exhibition, which was welcomed by the Korean government and people from all walks of life, and wrote the slogan: "Welcome Qi Baishi, the descendant of Oriental Picasso, to perform in China". Mr. Dong Changqing and the famous painter Mr. Zheng Haocheng (the twelfth grandson of Zheng Banqiao) held art exhibitions in the south successively, which were warmly welcomed by people from all walks of life in the south. In 2000, he painted "Ode to Plum Blossoms" for Prince Sihanouk in Beijing State Guesthouse, with the title: "Iron heart, clear air and dry Kun". In 2002, at the Longfei World Auction in Beijing, Mr. Dong Lao's "Spring Tide" (Shrimp) fetched 5 million RMB. At the invitation of Lucy, a British female painter, she held an exhibition of paintings in London, England, which was welcomed by people from all walks of life in Britain. Together with the famous painter Cha Rihua, he created "God of the Army" and dedicated it to the leaders of the United Nations. He has also held many exhibitions in the United States, Britain, Germany and many countries in Southeast Asia, and many of his works have been collected by leaders of many countries and international friends.
