Is there a battery on the Liu Gongdao?

There were 6 Krupp cannons and 58 cannons of various calibers imported from Germany in Liu Gongdao in Qing Dynasty. The battery is rigorous in structure, ingenious in shape, solid and practical, echoing the batteries on the north and south sides. The scale of the project was enormous, which made many people admire at that time. Huangdao Fort is located on Huangdao in the westernmost part of Liu Gongdao. It was built in the 16th year of Guangxu in Qing Dynasty (1890). It has 4 flat-fire guns, 3 rapid-fire guns and 2 battalion guns with a caliber of 24 cm. The underground passage is more than 260 meters long and leads to various gun positions. The tunnel is of masonry structure, cement grouting, arched dome, 3 meters high and about 1.5 meters wide, and the doors are separated by air holes. Most of the stones used are red granite shipped from Shidao. Barracks, ammunition depots and tunnels are connected as a whole, solid and concealed, and artillery can directly enter the artillery position from four entrances and exits. Now the battery still exists, the tunnel is intact, and lighting equipment is installed, so visitors can visit it at will. Mazijing Fort, formerly known as Liu Gongdao North Fort, is located in the northwest of Beiyang Navy's prefect house, and was built in 1889 because it is close to the Navy House. The artillery company is equipped with two ground trap guns with a diameter of 24 cm and six camp guns with a diameter of 7.5 cm. There are 14 barracks built on the mountain, and gunners can directly reach the gun position through the tunnel. The barracks tunnel is now well preserved. In 1987, a bunker was restored for tourists to watch. Qidingshan Fort is located on Qidingshan, the highest point in Liu Gongdao, and was built in the 16th year of Guangxu reign of Qing Dynasty (1890). It is divided into two parts: underground bunker and ground gun position, and there are four 24 cm caliber flat-fire guns. The remains of the fort still exist. The retaining wall, which was originally about 5 kilometers long from east to west, only had some fragments left. There are also a pair of pole-clamping stones, which are used by Beiyang Navy to erect flagpoles. The fortress is surrounded by pine trees, cypresses, winter jasmine and dense green bamboo. Standing here, you can overlook the sea around Liu Gongdao, visit historical sites and enjoy the scenery. Yingmendong Fort is located on a hill at the eastern foot of Ding Qi, and was built in 1889- 1890. A 24 cm flat-fire gun was set up, and a hidden room and cement bunker were built under the fortress. Now that the fortress has been destroyed, the site still exists. Donghong Fort is located in Donghong, the eastern end of Liu Gongdao, and was built between 1889 and 1890. There are two 24cm-caliber flat-fire guns, two12cm-caliber flat-fire guns and two 7.5cm-caliber battalion guns. The tunnel is a vault masonry structure. The highest point is 4 meters and the width is 3.2 meters. The average height and width are about 2.6 meters. There is good ventilation. The barracks are built at the exit of the tunnel, close to the mountain. They are hidden and strong, and the rooms are connected with each other. There are 7 gates, which are convenient to enter and exit. Each barracks is about 22 square meters. In the Sino-Japanese War of 1894- 1895, the battery was destroyed by artillery fire, and now only the ruins are left, and the barracks are well preserved. Nanzui Fort is located in the southeast of Liu Gongdao, about half a kilometer away from Donghong Fort. There are four different caliber guns. This battery was an outdoor temporary battery and was destroyed by the war.
