Nine Bends of the Yellow River: Unfinished Love
——Memory of the revolutionary old man Qu Yu
□Wang Keyu
March 11, 2010, Qu Yu, one of Huang He's outstanding sons and daughters, suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and died at the age of 83 after rescue efforts failed.
Old Quyu left, he left so quickly and suddenly. We have lost a good son and daughter who cared about and loved the Yellow River.
Recalling every contact and conversation with the old man, it seems like it happened yesterday. The old man's kind face, kind eyes, and melodious voice...
"Child..." The old man is tall and burly, and he always has a habit of bending down when talking to people, no matter how old or young. Quyu is not only a strong man: a revolutionary, a veteran cadre, a chief, but also a benevolent person: a kind old man, an amiable elder, and a forgetful friend.
His voice, smile, speech and behavior have always been lingering in my mind recently. It is a memory that I can’t erase. Looking back, it is hard to let go, and my heart aches.
Qu Yu is a native of Taoyuan, Feicheng. She is a close comrade-in-arms with her grandfather's brother, the revolutionary martyr Wang Zhenzhong, and also has close contacts with the elderly in her family. He joined the revolution in 1945 and joined the Communist Party of China in the same year. He served successively as leader of the Anti-Japanese Federation of the Second District of Feicheng County, instructor of the Hebei-Shandong-Henan Yellow River Engineering Detachment, section chief of the Shandong Provincial River Affairs Bureau, director of the Political Division of the Shandong Provincial Committee of Agriculture, and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Agriculture and Forestry System of Shandong Provincial Government, Director of the Shandong Provincial Water Conservancy and Irrigation Company, and Head of Discipline Inspection of the Shandong Provincial Department of Water Conservancy.
Qu Yu’s life was devoted to the Yellow River. He was a loyal son of the ancient Yellow River in China and was deeply devoted to the Yellow River. In his youth, he devoted himself to the cause of combating pornography. Over the past few decades, he has been in a state of turmoil. Whether his job is on the Yellow River or away from the Yellow River, he cares about it and protects it. He joined the Chinese Communist Party's Yellow River Negotiation Delegation and stepped into the Yellow River in March 1946. From then on, his life path was linked to the people's cause of Yellow River control. During the war years, he led the Yellow River Engineering Detachment, braved the air and ground artillery fire of the Kuomintang army, and spent a long time building embankments on the Yellow River, rescuing people, escorting the army to cross the Yellow River, supporting the War of Liberation, and engaging in tit-for-tat struggles with the Kuomintang army. In February 1947, he and his engineering detachment built a pontoon bridge at the Yellow River ferry in the north of Pingyin City, and sent more than 30,000 cavalry, artillery, and infantry members of the Huaye Tenth Column, and more than 15,000 stretcher teams, to successfully cross the Yellow River and participate in the Laiwu Campaign. . In March of the same year, he risked his life to salvage and rescue 16 Yellow River boats in the turbulent Yellow River waves, leaving a good tool for the people's army to cross the Yellow River. In May of the same year, he led an engineering detachment to cross the Yellow River, sneak attack on the puppet military strongholds, repair embankments for Hexi County, remove obstacles, and protect the safety of the Yellow River. In late June of the same year, he led an engineering detachment to build a wharf, build a bridge, and build a road at Weishan Ferry in Dong'e County. From June 29 to July 7, he sent a column of Liu and Deng's army of more than 35,000 people to forcibly cross the Yellow River. Inspired by the victorious slogan "Everything is for the front line, everything is for the war of liberation" and with the cooperation of the local people, pile driving, tying ropes, laying materials and pressing soil were all done at night. Although there were no lights, the work was carried out in Dong Aweishan and Shouzhang Taochengpu. Waiting for the five ferries to proceed in an orderly manner, more than 1,500 large and small vehicles transporting grain and arms, more than 15,000 stretcher teams, and more than 1,500 cadre groups heading south crossed the Yellow River, participated in the famous Battle of Southwest Shandong, and advanced into the Dabie Mountains. In September of the same year, under the pressure of the New Fifth Army of the Kuomintang, he and his engineering detachment crossed the Yellow River at Weishan in Dong'e County to welcome the Huaye Tenth Column's northward retreat. At the most dangerous time, he gave up the boat he was using to cross the river to the column leader and crossed the river safely. As for themselves, in the absence of a ferry, he and his engineering detachment braved enemy artillery fire to help more than 1,000 people in the stretcher team and some female soldiers, holding some door panels and tree trunks, and bravely swam across the river with fearless spirit. He called on his soldiers and migrant workers to cross the river to the death and not to be captured by the enemy. For this reason, Quyu and the Yellow River Engineering Detachment led by him were awarded special merit and first-class merit many times on the Yellow River front in 1947.
In January 1948, as the situation of the Liberation War changed, he took off his military uniform and sneaked into the Kuomintang government's anti-pornography organization in the Kuomintang-controlled district of Qihecheng, uniting the upper-level personnel, engineering technicians and workers of the Kuomintang's anti-pornography organization. , organized embankment repairs, rescue operations, and ensured the safety of this section of the Yellow River in enemy-occupied areas in a legal name. At the same time, he led the engineering brigade to help the underground party transfer weapons, ammunition, medicine, instruments and supplies that were in short supply in the liberated areas to the liberated areas. From 1952 to 1973, while working in the Provincial Yellow River Defense Bureau, regardless of any position or work, because he was familiar with various Yellow River control technologies and grassroots work conditions such as embankment construction, emergency rescue, flood prevention, and irrigation on the Yellow River, he set out to work on the Yellow River all year round. Running on both sides of the strait, wherever there are major projects to control the Yellow River, there will be working groups led by him to inspect the work or sum up experience; wherever the Yellow River in the county is in danger, there will be the shadow of his work. During the flood season of the Yellow River, regardless of wind or rain, as long as the Yellow River is in danger, he will set off immediately. When the river opens every year, he will brave the severe cold of -10°C and follow Ling to command the demolition team and artillery to blow up the icebergs blocking the water. , until Ling was sent to the sea. Spring repairs, flood prevention, and rain protection are carried out on the Yellow River every year. His footprints can be found everywhere on both sides of the Yellow River.
“Be good at learning, be brave in practice, pay attention to investigation and research, sum up experience, and solve problems” is Qu Yu’s consistent work style. He has unique feelings about diverting the Yellow River for irrigation and developing agricultural production. Starting in 1956, he began to investigate and research, riding his bicycle several times throughout the large and small irrigation areas along the Yellow River. Due to flood irrigation, the alkalization of the land developed to the point of "stopping irrigation". By 1965, "re-irrigation", he summarized hundreds of He is a typical example of the success and failure of Yellow River diversion irrigation. He devoted a lot of energy and effort and made significant contributions to the successful development of Yellow River diversion irrigation in the 1980s. He still has more than 70 numbered and numbered "notebooks" for the Yellow River Diversion Irrigation Investigation.
After Quyu retired, he still cared about and studied the Yellow River. In his 80s, he also conducted in-depth grassroots investigations and research and put forward many in-depth and valuable research reports. In recent years, he has written more than 200,000 words of articles for Yellow River History, and has published 17 articles with more than 150,000 words. In recent years, he discovered that the lower reaches of the Yellow River had been drying up for a long time, destroying the ecological balance of the Yellow River basin. He conducted a large number of investigations and research, wrote a thesis proposal, and printed it and sent it to relevant leaders of the central government, the Yellow River Committee, and the province for reference in decision-making. After floods occurred in the Yangtze River, he collected information and studied the problems on the Yellow River. He has written "Where is the most dangerous place in the Yellow River at present?" In September 2009, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, Quyu won the honorary certificate and medal for "Outstanding Personnel with Long-term Contribution to Water Conservancy" issued by the Ministry of Water Resources of the People's Republic of China and the People's Republic of China.
"As long as you live, you must think about the Yellow River; as long as your body can move, you must do something for the Yellow River!"
Qu Yu is an outstanding son and daughter of the Yellow River. This motto contains implications. The old man's charming state will always be remembered by Mother Huanghe and her children.
