Two-day tour of Longshui Lake in Dazu, Chongqing

From Chongqing, go directly to Chengdu-Chongqing Expressway, get off at the postal kiosk (30 kilometers from the postal kiosk to Dazu), go straight along the Judas Highway, and go directly to Longshui Lake Scenic Area after arriving at Longshui. Longshui Lake doesn't need tickets. You can take a sightseeing boat to visit the lakes and mountains. After swimming in Longshui Lake, return to Judas Expressway and drive directly to Dazu. Dazu stone carving is located in Dazu District, Chongqing, which is the general name of grotto art with cliff stone carving as its main feature. Among them, there are five places listed in the World Heritage List by UNESCO, namely, Beishan stone carving, Baodingshan stone carving, Nanshan stone carving, Shizhuanshan stone carving and Shimenshan stone carving.

Beishan Stone Carving is located on Beishan Mountain, which is 1.5 km north of the county seat. The statue was first excavated in the first year of Jingfu in the late Tang Dynasty (AD 892), centering on the Giant Buddha Bay, covering five places around Guanyin Slope, Yingpanpo, Foeryan and Beita Temple. It is more than 500 meters long. The rock is about 7 meters high and statues are made along the cliff. From south to north, it is shaped like a crescent moon, and the cave is like a honeycomb. More than 5000 statues. The statue is exquisite and skillful, so it is known as "China Guanyin Statue Exhibition Hall".

Baodingshan Stone Carving is located in the northeast of Dazu District15km. It was first carved in the Southern Song Dynasty, centered on the Giant Buddha Bay, and its contents are connected before and after, without any similarities. Giant Buddha Bay is horseshoe-shaped, more than 500 meters long and 15 ~ 30 meters high. There are more than 30 giant sculptures, including Six Masters in Wheel of Karma, Hua Yan Sansheng, Thousand Hands Guanyin, Kindness and Change of Parents, Kindness and Change of Great Convenience, Liu Ben Zun Dojo, Jue Yuan Dojo and Niumu Dojo. Among them, the sculptures in the Song Dynasty are the most distinctive, well-preserved, very interesting and story-telling. In each work, most of them are engraved with scriptures, poems and carols, just like a series of pictures and words. Most of the giant Buddha Bay is a tantric statue, and most of the sculptures have a strong real life atmosphere and a unique taste of Shu township, which is one of the representative sculptures of the grottoes in the Song Dynasty.

The cliff statue of Nanshan is named after Nanshan, which is located 2 kilometers south of Dazu City. It was founded in1131-kloc-0/162 (Shaoxing in the Southern Song Dynasty), and it was slightly supplemented in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It is a pure Taoist statue, beautifully carved, plump in shape and painted on the surface. It is the largest and most concentrated Taoist grottoes in China, which reflects the gods most completely.

Shi Zhuan Mountain Stone Carving is located on Shi Zhuan Mountain in Fohui Village, Sanqu Town, 25 kilometers southwest of Dazu District. There is a temple on the mountain called Fohui Temple. There are grottoes outside the temple, which are hidden stone carving areas, concentrated in Fowan (Mother-Child Hall) and Qianfo Rock, and mixed with Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism, with about four or five thousand bodies. The statue here is huge, like a pearl jade buried deep in the soil, reflecting a history that has not been uncovered.

Shimenshan Stone Carving is located in Xinsheng Village, shima town, 20 kilometers east of Dazu District. It was unearthed in a.d.1094 ~1151year (21 years from Shaosheng in Northern Song Dynasty to Shaoxing in Southern Song Dynasty). The total length of the carved cliff surface is 7 1.8m, and the cliff height is 3.4 ~ 5m. The general number is 16, in which there are statues 12 caves. The Cliff Statue of Shimen Mountain is a statue area where Buddhism and Taoism are integrated, especially Taoist statues. Its statues, immortals or explanations, ghosts and gods, live in a region, exquisite, ingenious and widowed.
