Details related to the 2012 Nanyang Agricultural Games

The Seventh National Agricultural Games will be held in Nanyang City, Henan Province on September 16, 2012. This event will feature 15 major events and 198 minor events. At present, the preparations for the Agricultural Games have achieved initial success. The construction of 8 new venues and 7 renovated and upgraded venues is proceeding in an orderly manner. The main structure of the main stadium has been capped. All projects will be completed and put into trial operation by the end of March next year.

The emblem consists of three deformed letters "N", representing agriculture, rural areas and farmers respectively. "N" is the first letter of the Chinese pinyin of the word "nong", which means that the Peasant Games are a grand sports event for farmers across the country. The three "N" characters are in blue, yellow and green, representing the sky, the earth and crops respectively, indicating that farmers' sports are rooted in the motherland and have a broad mass base.

The name of the mascot is "Niu Niu", which means that farmers across the country are full of bullishness and arrogance, and their lives are getting better and better. "Niu Niu" takes the famous Nanyang cattle as its image feature, embodies the regional characteristics of Nanyang, and conveys the connotation of farmers, rural areas and agriculture. After anthropomorphic and cartoon design, the work has strong movements, highlighting the strength and speed of peasant athletes, and expressing the sports spirit of "faster, higher, stronger".

The theme slogan of this year’s Agricultural Games is: Showcase the style of the Agricultural Games and create glory in the Central Plains.
