The small vegetable garden is growing well

Since May, the weather has been cloudy and rainy, so I have never gone upstairs to see the small vegetable garden I planted.

Dad occasionally goes to visit after dinner.

One day after June, the rare sun finally arrived belatedly. Although it only lasted for half a day, it was enough for me.

Taking advantage of the good weather for half a day, I quickly took off the sheets and quilt covers to wash them so that I could take them upstairs to dry.

Quilts washed on cloudy and rainy days always have a smell of staleness. I always like to wash them quickly when the weather is nice so I can bask in the sun.

After taking it to the roof to dry it, I took a look at the vegetables I planted in the small vegetable garden.

The small vegetable garden was temporarily formed by the landlord and a colleague of Bao’s dad, using foam boxes filled with soil. There are about 20 boxes in two rows, large and small.

Except for a few boxes of potatoes they planted, we asked us to plant the rest.

I bought vegetable seedlings twice to plant.

This is my first time buying many kinds, including bitter melon, watermelon, eggplant, pepper seedlings, tomato seedlings, etc.

The second time was when the landlord dug up some potatoes and had a few empty foam boxes, so he asked us to buy something to plant in them.

This time, there were not as many seedlings as before in the market. Only villagers from nearby villages sold some single pepper seedlings or tomato seedlings.

My family doesn’t eat much chili peppers, so we only bought tomato seedlings and planted them.

It’s been a while since I came here to see it. All kinds of vegetables are growing very well. The tomatoes I bought earlier are already bearing fruits. There are many small green fruits, as big as quail eggs. The eggplants are also growing much taller and have purple leaves hanging on them. There are little flowers, but no little eggplants. Could they be what we call "lying flowers"? The bitter melon and watermelon haven't bloomed yet, and the vines have already clung to the simple shelf that was built before.

The latter batch of tomatoes also grew very well and began to bloom small yellow flowers.

Looking at this simple small vegetable garden, all kinds of vegetables are growing vigorously and with gratifying growth. It won’t be long before you can harvest the fruits of your labor.
