What do you know about varicose veins? Take you deep into varicose veins
In these cases, many people will think that they are too tired and just have a rest. Actually, varicose veins may have found you.
Varicose veins of lower limbs, commonly known as "earthworm legs", are tortuous and dilated veins caused by standing for a long time and sedentary, or congenital weak vein wall and venous valve insufficiency leading to venous blood accumulation and venous pressure increase.
From the appearance, most of them are twisted veins like earthworms, and sometimes the skin of the calf has atrophy, desquamation and pigmentation. Although painless, it not only affects the appearance, but also brings potential harm to the body.
The pathogenesis of varicose veins can be divided into internal and external causes:
1. Internal reasons
There are many "venous valves" in the veins of the legs, such as many one-way valves, to help venous blood return to the heart and prevent blood from returning.
However, these venous valves will be damaged for some reasons, and the valves will not close tightly, leading to blood reflux, which will lead to venous congestion and varicose veins of lower limbs.
Therefore, if the congenital venous wall is weak and the venous valve has problems, varicose veins are easy to come to the door; In addition, with the increase of age, veins will also expand abnormally, leading to varicose veins.
2. External factors
① Standing for a long time: If a person stands for a long time, the veins will expand, the valves will not close, and it is difficult for blood to return, which will easily lead to varicose veins.
2 sedentary: it will lead to pelvic congestion and bring more pressure to the lower limbs.
Sitting posture such as crossing one's legs is also very easy to oppress the vein at the popliteal fossa and affect the blood return. People who often maintain these sitting positions should also be careful of varicose veins.
③ Chronic cough and constipation: People with this symptom will increase the abdominal pressure invisibly, and will also affect the venous return of lower limbs.
④ Obesity and pregnancy: Although this is not the direct cause, excessive leg pressure may lead to poor venous return and aggravate venous dilatation.
In medicine, varicose veins are artificially divided into 7 stages: 0~6 stages.
Stage 0-This is the stage where varicose veins have the least symptoms and are easily overlooked. Generally speaking, the symptoms are leg pain, weakness, leg swelling and easy cramping.
1 period-vasodilation period, in which varicose veins are usually manifested as telangiectasia of lower limbs, varicose reticular veins and spider reticular varicose veins.
The second stage-varicose veins is characterized by the continuous expansion of superficial subcutaneous veins and the appearance of "earthworm-like" curved blood vessels in lower limbs, which can be seen by the naked eye.
At this stage, patients with varicose veins can be treated without surgery, but they must correct bad habits such as sitting for a long time and crossing their legs to slow down the development of the disease.
Stage 3- During this period, complications will begin to appear, accompanied by symptoms of local skin itching.
Stage 4- Symptoms such as eczema and pigmentation begin to appear on leg skin.
Stage 5- Ulcer appears on the injured skin of the leg, which can heal if proper health care measures are taken.
The sixth stage-the ulcer at this stage can't heal, and pus often flows.
At first, there will be telangiectasia under the skin of the limbs, that is, the veins are very obvious. After a long time, there will be telangiectasia and tortuous masses under the skin. Without active treatment, skin pigmentation, dermatitis, eczema and ulcer formation often occur in calves and ankles, and varicose veins can also lead to bleeding.
If the following symptoms appear, it is likely that venous thrombosis is eyeing you.
0 1 itch
Local itching of lower limbs, severe dermatitis or eczema will occur, which will aggravate itching and even be unbearable.
02 pain
It is characterized by calf cramps and mild edema.
03 Shen
After walking for a period of time, you will feel heavy and swollen in your legs and stomach. This feeling is often light in the morning and heavy at night. Sometimes it can also cause edema of the calf skin, especially the ankle.
04 efforts
It is characterized by desquamation, redness, turning purple and even turning black, and the skin loses elasticity and hardens.
unsound
At first, there may be only inflammation and exudation, and then there will be ulcers, which will become more and more serious, and eventually the skin will be completely necrotic, commonly known as "old rotten legs."
Even more frightening is that varicose veins may lead to sudden death. This is because varicose veins occur in superficial veins, while deep veins exist in the legs. Blood flows into deep veins through superficial veins and then back to the heart.
If varicose veins are not controlled for a long time, venous blood will coagulate in deep veins of lower limbs and form deep venous thrombosis. If you suddenly exercise, the thrombus may fall off, flow along the vein to the heart, and then flow from the heart to the pulmonary artery, causing pulmonary embolism.
Once the pulmonary artery is blocked, there will be two fatal results:
0 1. People who are engaged in long-term sedentary occupations
Such as teachers, drivers, medical staff, company employees, manual workers, etc. Due to the continuous action of gravity, blood flows, which causes pressure on venous valves for a long time, valve insufficiency will gradually appear, and venous hypertension will lead to varicose veins.
02. The elderly
When the elderly are old, the elasticity of blood vessels decreases, the tension of blood vessel walls decreases, and the function of venous valves is not complete, which leads to varicose veins.
03. Chronic constipation
Long-term constipation leads to difficulty in defecation, increases abdominal pressure, hinders blood return, and induces or aggravates varicose veins.
0 1. venous function exercise
Sit in a chair and lift one leg parallel to the ground. Press the footboard down straight, stay for 5 seconds, and then bend the footboard toward your body for 5 seconds.
Stand with your left and right feet crossed, bend down slowly, and keep your hands close to your ankles vertically. Pay attention to take your time to avoid muscle strain, stay for 5 seconds, and then get up.
02. Reduce leg pressure
Don't stand for more than 1 hour unless absolutely necessary. It's best to walk a few steps every half hour. When standing, spread your legs slightly to avoid muscle tension.
If you have varicose veins, don't take part in activities like square dancing, mountain climbing and hiking.
Control your weight and reduce the burden on your calves.
Lift less heavy objects, so as not to increase the pressure on lower limbs.
