First unplug the receiver from the computer, and then open the device manager from the computer. (Right-click My Computer and select Device Manager), and then locate Mouse and Other Device Pointers.

At this point, you can see that there is only one device under "mouse and other device pointers". Do not close this interface and plug in the receiver. Under normal circumstances, there will be an extra thing called "HID-complian mouse".
